This is a list of mosques in Azerbaijan.[1]

The construction of the mosque, according to the inscription-text of the Govhar Agha vakfname, was to be completed by 1865–1866. The name of the master Karbalayi Safikhan, the architect of Karabakh, is found on the mosque.[6] It has two minarets. During the period when the city was under the occupation of the Armenian forces the mosque was in a dilapidated state. Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque | Shusha | 1768–1885 | TS | The mosque was originally built by the order of the second Karabakh Khan Ibrahim Khalil-Khan and stands on the basis of the historical core of the city.[15] In 1883–1885, by the order of the daughter of Ibrahim Khan Govhar Agha, the mosque was completed by the Azerbaijani architect Karbalayi Safikhan Karabakhi.[15] It has two minarets. In the Soviet years, the mosque was included in the list of historical monuments protected by state and began to be used as a local history museum. After the occupation of Shusha by the Armenian forces in 1992, the mosque ceased to function and until the late 2010s was in dilapidated conditions. After the liberation of the city by Azerbaijan, the restoration works of the mosque conducted by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation began.[16] It is included in the list of historical and cultural monuments of Azerbaijan protected by state.[17] | |
