Nathan Sheron (born 4 October 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender and midfielder for National League side Hartlepool United.

Career

[edit]

Having previously played for Liverpool at youth level,[6] Sheron began his career with Fleetwood Town, spending time on loan at Chorley, Chester and Southport.[7]

He made his senior debut for Fleetwood on 8 November 2017, in an EFL Trophy match against Carlisle United.[8] In doing so he became the first graduate of Fleetwood's Academy to play for the first-team.[9] He was offered a new contract by Fleetwood at the end of the 2017–18 season.[10] He made his full league debut on 2 October 2018 against Wycombe Wanderers,[11] and was praised by manager Joey Barton.[12]

He moved on loan to Walsall in January 2020.[13]

On 7 July 2020, Sheron joined Scottish Premiership club St Mirren for the 2020–21 season.[14]

At the end of the 2020–21 season, he was released by Fleetwood Town.[15] He joined League Two side Harrogate Town on 16 July 2021.[16][17] He spent just one season at Harrogate where he made 36 appearances in all competitions.

On 29 June 2022, Sheron agreed to join Oldham Athletic on a two-year contract, following the expiry of his Harrogate contract.[18] Sheron was an ever present for The Latics and made 89 league appearances during his time at the club; he only missed one game in his first season with Oldham – due to the birth of his daughter.[19]

On 21 June 2024, Sheron signed for fellow National League side Hartlepool United for an undisclosed fee.[5] He made his Hartlepool debut in a 1–0 victory against Yeovil Town on the opening match of the 2024–25 season.[20] On 23 October, he scored his first Hartlepool goal in the fifth minute of a 1–1 away draw with Altrincham.[21]

Personal life

[edit]

Sheron is the nephew of former footballer Mike Sheron.[22]
