Pupillidae is a family of mostly minute, air-breathing, land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks or micromollusks in the superfamily Pupilloidea.[4]

This family has two subfamilies (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005).:[3] Pupillinae W. Turton, 1831 and Pupoidinae Iredale, 1940.

Distribution

[edit]

Pupoides marginatus is endemic to Cuba.[5] The type genus, Pupilla, in direct contrast, has numerous living and extinct species found in Europe, Northern Africa, North America and South-East Asia.[citation needed]

Anatomy

[edit]

In this family, the number of haploid chromosomes lies between 26 and 30 (according to the values in this table).[6]
