Spokane Zephyr FC is a professional women's soccer team based in Spokane, Washington, United States. It is a member of the USL Super League, a new Division I league operated by the United Soccer League, and debuted in August 2024.[1] Zephyr FC is owned by Aequus Sports, which also operates Spokane Velocity FC of USL League One, another stadium tenant.[2]
History
[edit]Aequus Sports was granted a USL Super League franchise on May 16, 2023; the team is set to play with a second squad in the semi-pro USL W League.[3][4] On August 17, 2024, Zephyr played their inaugural match against Fort Lauderdale United FC to a sold-out crowd on their home field at ONE Spokane Stadium drawing 1-1. Emina Ekić scored the club's first goal off a penalty kick.[5]
Stadium
[edit]The team plays at ONE Spokane Stadium, a Downtown Spokane venue with 5,000 seats.[6][7]
Identity
[edit]Colors and logo
[edit]The Zephyr name and primary colors—gold and blue—refer to the Pacific Northwest's geography; they were unveiled on November 5, 2023.[2][4]The Z in the logo is a reference to the west wind, that "sweeps in and reshapes the landscape."[8]
