Template talk:Reform Judaism in the United Kingdom

User:Headhitter, this template is far too detailed, comprising all articles related to the movement. It must be reduced considerably. AddMore der Zweite (talk) 09:51, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

AddMore der Zweite, by what criterion is is too detailed? Surely it provides a useful and easy means of accessing all these articles? Headhitter (talk) 10:50, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's very cumbersome. It lists every house of worship and clearly non-notable figures, like Nicholas de Lange. That's what categories are for.AddMore der Zweite (talk) 19:26, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
How is it cumbersome? de Lange not notable!? Wikipedia has had an article on him for many years. And why shouldn't every place of worship be listed? Headhitter (talk) 19:47, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Lange is an academic more than a rabbi. Albert Friedlander was more active in the US and the WUPJ, so was Arthur Löwenstamm (in Germany). Sheila Shulman barely merits an article. Nancy Morris is not prominent, etc. As for the congregations, you cant have a template that replaces a category (wp:Template namespace#Guidelines). A rabbi is a rabbi, whether or not they are also an academic. Albert Friedlander was for many years Rabbi of Westminster Synagogue and also Director of Rabbinical Studies at Leo Baeck College and was Emeritus Rabbi of Westminster Synagogue after his retirement. Arthur Löwenstamm taught Rabbis Lionel Blue and Hugo Gryn and examined Charles Berg in October 1952 for smicha in the first non-Orthodox ordination in England. Nancy Morris was the first female rabbi appointed in Scotland. The template doesn't replace the category: it conveys information in a quite different way. Please desist from making very negative and unconstructive comments. WP:CIVIL Headhitter (talk) 23:55, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Raise the issue at wiki-etiquette if you want to. Fact is, all but three clergyman and every synagogue in the MRJ which possessed an article was mentioned in this template until I reduced it a bit. I'll request further comment.AddMore der Zweite (talk) 11:33, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
All the synagogues are still mentioned; I did the reduction. Headhitter (talk) 12:15, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
