Template
[edit]I'm not sure about this template; there were thousands of journalists who covered the vietnam war; selecting a small enough number to fit on a template will inevitably leave many out. Wouldn't a list or category be better? Night Gyr 23:31, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well it's a listing of correspondents who already have Wiki articles, so a template works better. In general, templates are better than lists, because it means somebody reading about one, reaches the end of the article and is automatically presented with similar biographies, imho. - I agree, a list or category would work better. I was going to start adding various Vietnam war photographers to this template, but I suspect it'll get unwieldy soon.
Also, is Robert Capa technically a Vietnam War correspondent, given he died before it started? Although he did cover the earlier First Indochina War, it depends how you define Vietnam War. --duncan 22:32, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- My bad, nix Capa in that case. Anyways, I'd suggest once this gets too unwieldly, we start separating out photographers and journalists if possible, although often it's a grey area between them. Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 23:36, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Can non-anglophones apply?
[edit]The template seems to suggest that reporting of the war was mostly done by English speakers. Just among Japanese photographers, there were Shigeru Tamura, Toshio Sakai, Kyoichi Sawada, and probably a number of others I can't think of. -- Hoary 15:03, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, certainly not meant to be limited to Anglophones - I've added the three names you suggested, if you can think of any more, by all means add them :) Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 17:10, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Added Richard Tregaskis
[edit]Richard Tregaskis covered the build up to the ware from 62 on. He has been added.
