Request for input at Thai royal funeral

[edit]

Hi. There's discussion on whether the Thai royal prefixes phra and phra boromma should be used in article text, and how to spell merumat/merumas, at Talk:Thai royal funeral#Spelling and treatment of Thai royal terms. Since you do quite a bit of work on Thai royal customs-related articles, your input would be appreciated. Thanks. --Paul_012 (talk) 23:43, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May I ask for help?

[edit]

Sawasdee khrap, Mr.Sodacan. I would like to ask about the coat of arms you have done beautifully. I'm Chester from Thailand. I'm an English teacher who has been teaching in a school named Nonsungsritani School which is 40 kms far away from the downtown of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. I'm the head of the intensive English program and I really love the arts of the coat of arms around the world. Now, I have no ideas who in Thailand can help me in making the coat of arms for my special program and school. Finally, I come to contact you here. Excuse me, can you please kindly help me for making the coat of arm? May I have the details for the pay you would like to get in making a coat of arm following my idea? My school name is Nonsungsritani which means The school located on the high hill which is honored to the city. My inspirational coat of arm is the British coat of arm which the animals stand on the hill (right?). How could I contact you to talk over about this idea? Could you please help me? Thank you so much. Sincerely, Chester.

Request for Help: Speakers of the House of Commons

[edit]

Dear Sodacan

Recently I have attempted to create an article listing the heraldic achievements of speakers of the British House of Commons, based on similar articles about the armorials of various heads of state and government. The draft has twice been turned down by administrators. As a significant contributor to articles relating to heraldry, your assistance would be most valuable.

I removed one (only one) of the rows you added to List of national animals because the source didn't meet WP:RS. It was a marketing blog rather than a reliable source. In the month of September, Wikiproject Military history is running a project-wide edit-a-thon, Backlog Banzai. There are heaps of different areas you can work on, for which you claim points, and at the end of the month all sorts of whiz-bang awards will be handed out. Every player wins a prize! There is even a bit of friendly competition built in for those that like that sort of thing. Sign up now at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/September 2019 Backlog Banzai to take part. Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

[edit]

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Please do not add new additions to these pages without direct sources as the burden to provide them is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Sodacan, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 17:16, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I recall that sometime ago you mentioned that you were working on a major revision of the article. Do you perhaps have a workable draft that could be used to prop up the article for its upcoming Main Page appearance? The article is going to need clean-up anyway, but if you already have some work done I'd hate to let it go to waste. --Paul_012 (talk) 00:06, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's not as beefed out as I would have liked. But sadly still not finished. I have never done a draft before. When will the article be on the main page? --Sodacan (talk) 04:34, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The lead image is scheduled as Picture of the Day for 7 May. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:54, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, no guarantees but will try to workout something before then, please help me review it when its published. I just looked at the stuff I got and there is only one complete section, so there is a lot to do. By the way it will be a complete rewrite, I will not be using any of the original texts. Sodacan (talk) 12:00, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. But please don't feel pressured or rushed to finish this; I wasn't actually hoping for a complete overhaul in two days' time. The thought was more like, if you already have some material lying around, I can help polish it up so it can be seen sooner. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:25, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's okay, I will take it as a challenge. --Sodacan (talk) 17:27, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Paul 012: Finished. Please check immediately for typos, punctuation, grammar and other things. Rushed is an understatement, but the pressure finally made it happen. Will add more sources and books within the next few days. Hopefully good enough for main page. Please add to the lede especially, old one was more about the Emerald Buddha than the actual temple. Sodacan (talk) 16:57, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thanks a lot. I'll continue copyediting as soon as I can. There are some further queries which I'll post on the article talk page. --Paul_012 (talk) 00:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thanks for your set of Belgian royal arms. In the last months, you have nonethless introduced an important mistake. Flag of India 1907 (Nationalists Flag)

[edit]

Hi Sodacan,

Would it be possible for you to make some typographic improvements on the "Flag of India 1907 (Nationalists Flag)" file? On Madam Cama’s birthday I visited her article and saw that the vowel signs (matras) in the Devanagari text aren’t placed correctly.

Assuming that you don’t know Devanagari script, I’ll describe it in simple terms: In this cute video you can see that the accent on top of the second letter and the accent below the last letter should be moved to the right, to touch the vertical stem of the letter.

From this drawing shown in a video (you’ll have to pause the video there) you can see that there are more than one ways to write these words: together or with a space. Also, instead of the last letter with the accent below, it’s also possible to just write a dot accent on top of the previous letter. But don’t let this confuse you – your writing is perfectly OK, as long as you can adjust the accents a bit.

The same video has a colored version much like your drawing at this frame and I just hope it’s crisp enough that you can see how the accents should be placed.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sodacan, could you update the source link for this image? Tried looking for it in the National Archives site with the item code but I wasn't able to find it. Thanks in advance! Horserice (talk) 17:35, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Duchess of York pre-divorce arms

[edit]

Hi Sodacan. Hope you're doing well. As the original creator of the elements that were used to create File:Arms of Sarah, Duchess of York, 1986-1996.svg and File:Coat of Arms of Sarah, Duchess of York, 1986-1996.svg, I wanted to see if it would be possible for you to make a minor change in either of these files. A user raised concerns about a potential error in both of these files, specifically stating that the two images show "the grassy base and thistle floating in the middle of the shield, which is erroneous. The thistles should be emerging from the base of the shield (as in her pre-marital arms). I checked The Heraldry Society and it seems that what he says actually is true. I also noted that in the file originally uploaded by you the thistles emerge from the base. Since you have experience with heraldry I wanted to see what your opinion was and whether you can fix it or not. Thanks a lot. Keivan.fTalk 23:58, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Camilla's new coat of arms

[edit]

Hi Sodacan. I just that you have updated Catherine's coat of arms and changed its coronet to reflect her new position as the Princess of Wales. I was wondering it you planned to apply the necessary changes to Camilla's coat of arms since she's now queen consort. The section on her arms needs to be updated and there's no one who could do it better than you. Regards. Keivan.fTalk 20:10, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I just checked the page on the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom and realized that it has already been created. I added it to the main page as well. Many thanks. Keivan.fTalk 08:30, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Correction to previous election announcement

[edit]

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:42, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello @Sodacan:

You are the person who made and modified the Qing flag file. However, there is no evidence that the dragon had a green tail on the flag of the Qing Dynasty, so please correct it to a white tail. 1.242.178.6 (talk) 00:17, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sodacan!

[edit]

Hello, I am a relatively new user to wikipedia but I noticed when I was sifting through some Heraldry that you had a wreath in the Coat of arms of Infanta Paz of Spain (Bavarian Version) and I was wondering if there was a template for it or a file of it? Many thanks!

Horrible Histories

[edit]

It premiered just over ten years ago, but only this morning I spotted your illustration of St Edward's Crown in a sketch about Elizabethan royal mail (S5E3). The monarchs song from S3E2 also uses your graphics extensively.[1] Robin S. Taylor (talk) 10:08, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Prince William

[edit]

Your current graphic of William's armorial achievement omits the inescutcheon of the Principality of Wales but photographs from a visit to Birmingham on 20th April show that said inescutcheon was included on the flag and shield atop his car roof.[[2]][[3]] Robin S. His recent paper on the finances of the royal family uses your illustration of the arms of the Duchy of Cornwall on page 48. Unusually for these appearances he has explicitly credited you.[1]

On another note, I've recently uploaded the blazons of another twenty-five life peers for you and other artists to have a go at illustrating. Robin S. Taylor (talk) 15:40, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
