Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]Aminoacil-tRNK sintetaze kataliziraju aminoacilaciju tRNK pomoću njihove srodne aminokiseline. Zbog njihove centralne uloge u povezivanju aminokiselina sa nukleotidnim tripletnim sadržanim u tRNK, smatra se da su aminoacil-tRNK sintetaze među prvim proteinima koji su se pojavili u evoluciji. Postoje dva oblika triptofanil-tRNK sintetaze, citoplazmatski, zvani WARS i mitohondrijski oblik, zvani WARS2. Ovaj gen kodira mitohondrijsku triptofanil-tRNK sintetazu. Opisane su dije alternativne varijante transkripta koje kodiraju različite izoforme].[7]
