A Quiet Place: Day One is an upcoming American apocalyptic horror film that is a spin-off prequel and the third installment in the A Quiet Place film series. It is directed and written by Michael Sarnoski, based on a story by John Krasinski and Sarnoski.[2] The film stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Djimon Hounsou reprising his role from A Quiet Place Part II (2020).

Paramount Pictures plans to release A Quiet Place: Day One in theaters in the United States on June 28, 2024.

Cast[edit]

Production[edit]

In November 2020, Paramount Pictures announced a spin-off film set within the same world as A Quiet Place (2018), with Jeff Nichols set to write and direct, based on a story by John Krasinski. The film is a co-production between Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night Productions, with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and Krasinski producing.[6][7] In May 2021, Krasinski announced that Nichols' script was complete and submitted to the studio.[8] By October, however, Nichols dropped out of the film due to creative differences while the studio was reported to be quickly looking for a replacement.[9] In January 2022, Michael Sarnoski was announced to replace Nichols as writer and director.[10]

The casting of Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn was reported in November 2022.[11][12] Alex Wolff was cast in January 2023.[13] In March, it was announced that Djimon Hounsou was reprising his unnamed character from A Quiet Place Part II (2020),[14] now revealed to be named "Henri".[citation needed]

Principal photography began on February 6, 2023 in London,[15][16] and wrapped on April 11.[17]

Release[edit]

A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled to be released in the United States by Paramount Pictures on June 28, 2024.[18] It was previously scheduled to be released on March 31, 2023, then on September 22, 2023, and on March 8, 2024.[19][20]
