Jianshi County (simplified Chinese: 建始县; traditional Chinese: 建始縣; pinyin: Jiànshǐ Xiàn) is a county of southwestern Hubei province, People's Republic of China. It is under the administration of the Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

2004年末，建始县面积2666.55平方千米，{...}2010年第六次人口普查，建始县412038人，常住总人口其中：业州镇104839人，高坪镇43995人，红岩镇19208人，景阳镇34906人，官店镇41508人，长梁乡54998人，茅田乡18248人，龙坪乡23580人，三里乡28869人，花坪乡41887人。 2011年，花坪乡撤乡设镇。调整后，全县辖6个镇、4个乡：业州镇、高坪镇、红岩寺镇、景阳镇、官店镇、花坪镇、长梁乡、茅田乡、龙坪乡、三里乡。

2011年，撤销花坪乡，设立花坪镇。到2016年，全县设4乡（长梁乡、茅田乡、龙坪乡、三里乡）、6镇（业州镇、红岩镇、高坪镇、花坪镇、景阳镇、官店镇）、367个行政村、43个社区。
