Noah Baumbach is an American writer, director, and filmmaker. He's known writing and directing the films The Squid and the Whale (2005), Frances Ha (2013), Marriage Story (2019), White Noise (2021). He is also known with his collaborations with Wes Anderson on the films The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009). He co-wrote the screenplay for the comedy Barbie with his partner Greta Gerwig.

Baumbach has received four Academy Award nominations including for Best Original Screenplay for The Squid and the Whale (2005), Marriage Story (2019), and Best Adapted Screenplay for Barbie (2023). He also received nominations for two BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Writers Guild of America Awards. He received the Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay and Independent Spirit Robert Altman Award for Marriage Story (2019), and the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Original Screenplay for Barbie (2023). His films have premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and Venice Film Festival, competing for the Palme d'Or and Golden Lion respectively.
