Lynn Yaeger is an American journalist who is the contributing fashion editor to Vogue.com and a contributing writer to Vogue.[2][3] She is a former fashion reporter for The Village Voice, having worked for the paper for 30 years. Her column, "Elements of Style," was renamed "Frock Star"[who?] in February 2007. Yaeger is also a regular contributor to The New York Times, The New Yorker[1], The Atlantic[4], Style Magazine, Travel + Leisure, and countless antiques & collectibles dealers.
Yaeger was also a fashion columnist for Full Frontal Fashion, a style website associated with Sundance Channel and the curator for the vintage section of fashion retail website yoox.com.[5][6]
Early life[edit]
Lynn Yaeger was born in New York City[7] and grew up on Long Island, which she has said she hated.[8]
Style[edit]
She is known for her eccentric personal style, powdered face and dark, cupid's-bow lipstick as well as cutting her own hair. She is a Japanophile.[6] In an interview with PAPER magazine, fashion designer Marc Jacobs said that Yaeger was one of his muses[9] and her style has been noted to influence other fashion designers like Undercover, Alexander Wang, and Chloé.[10]
Awards[edit]
In 2008, Yaeger won first place in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists' category of humor writing for newspapers with more than 100,000 circulation.[11]
In 2019 the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awarded her the Media Award in Honor of Eugenia Sheppard.[8]
Personal life[edit]
Yaeger is friends with Michael Musto from the Village Voice, but said that she was "terrified" of him prior to becoming friends. She also described Mickey Boardman as "the most fun" who "never said a bad word about anyone." She describe Paper magazine as "kind of the bible of downtown cool" with editors "who were friendlier"; "it felt like they got me, especially Mickey."[12]
