"New unreviewed article" template

[edit]

I have removed {{New unreviewed article}} from this template, disregarding the instruction not to "mess with this line". That instruction, I feel fairly sure, was a bad idea, but I should explain why.

This template was added to salvia divinorum, an article that has existed since 2009 and has been edited by many people, and made it appear to be a "new unreviewed article". That was clearly nonsense.

Now, what exactly was the point of including the "new unreviewed article" template in the first place? I don't know. Maybe it was meant to be applied to this template rather than the articles into which this template was transcluded? If so, then I think it should be blocked off with <noinclude> or some such; not sure of the exact syntax. --Trovatore (talk) 02:47, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My guess is that you created this template using some sort of "new article wizard", and it added that bit automatically. Is that so? If so, can you tell me what you did exactly? This ought to be fixed by whoever maintains the wizard, but I wasn't able to reproduce it using Wikipedia:Article wizard. --Trovatore (talk) 21:41, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
