Don't put in...[edit]

1)All the unecessary Pre-Ghibli films. Only Hols: Prince of the Sun, Castle of Cagliostro, and Nausicaa were really pillars and formed Ghibli, the others really wern't, and shouldn't be on the list. Besides many that had been put on were shows. 2)non animated Ghibli films. Make a new part of the template for them, such as "Other Ghibli Films". 3)Please do not add any other shorts until they have pages. 4)The "Also See" area should only have a few links, not many, so lets leave that to directors and producers. Split the template[edit]

I think this may be a candidate for splitting into 2-3 different templates. As it is, it's insanely huge and takes up an inordinate amount of space in the articles. On top of that, how can "Pre-Ghibli films" be Ghibli films? I could understand if the template was titled "Miyazaki and Takahata works", because that's what all of those are. However, they do not belong in this template. I think we ought to make a spearate template for Studio Ghibli people, as well. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:21, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I made this template, and people have over-expanded it. I have went back and erased most of the Pre-Ghibli films. Only the 3 most important are left: Nausicaa, Hols, and Cagliostro. Innocence was not a Ghibli film. All the Ghibli shorts were unecessarily on the list, and may only be added once they receive a page, not before. All the people on the "see also" list, were unescessary. Let's keep it too producers and directors of Ghibli films!Casey14 18:43, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I added back a few important Ghibli figures. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 07:59, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Morita should be on[edit]

He directed a Ghibli film, The Cat Returns, and needs to be on the template.Casey14 01:05, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why isn't Gauche the Cellist included?[edit]

Why isn't 1982's Gauche the Cellist included in the list of pre-Ghibli films? Isao Takahata worked on it for 6 years, write the screenplay and directing it. That seems like a significant formative film for a man who became a pillar of Ghibli. Patiwat 00:29, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gauche the Cellist's page was probably non-existent when this page was made. If you would like, you may add it to the pre-Ghibli works. We just do not want the template to have many unlinked pages in it, and very small Pre-Ghibli works. Casey14 00:10, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ghibli Museum shorts[edit]

I've worked a bit on the Ghibli Museum page and added pages for some of the short films shown there. You might want to include them in the template. HertzaHaeon 22:03, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did it myself. There will be pages for all shorts eventually. HertzaHaeon (talk) 21:24, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ocean Waves/I Can Hear the Sea[edit]

The UK title for the film will be Ocean Waves, as per information from the BBFC website. Should this be reflected in the box? David Bailey (talk) 21:06, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-Ghibli and Ghibli Museum film[edit]

I'm going to remove the pre-Ghibli and Ghibli Museum films from the template. The first have been discussed before on this page, and no argument has been presented to keep them. They are not Ghibli films, and both Takahata and Miyazaki have their own templates anyway where they are included. Being a Ghibli Museum film basically just means that Ghibli was the film's distributor in Japan; as I can see we don't have templates for distributors even in English-speaking territories. Having been distributed in Japan by the same company is not a strong enough connection to motivate a navbox between those films, many of which are major classics of European cinema. Please tell me if you disagree and why. Smetanahue (talk) 14:03, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 21 April 2015[edit]

I wanted to move Ocean Waves to 'other productions' as it is not part of Ghibli's theatrical canon. 75.159.211.128 (talk) 04:46, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, no. It's fine where it is. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 06:30, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom should not be included in the list of Ghibli works as it doesn't include any animated sequences by them unlike the first game.

It's not included in this template. If you'd like to discuss its inclusion elsewhere, start a discussion on the relevant talk page. – Rhain 03:20, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
