Corey Allen Jr moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Corey Allen Jr, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Corey Allen Jr.[edit]

I added a note to Draft talk:Corey Allen Jr.

Bottom line: Most basketball players at his level simply do not qualify for articles in Wikipedia, no matter how well-written and well-referenced they are.

Those that do qualify probably do so under a different criteria. For example, if he became a notable actor (see WP:NACTOR) or politician (WP:NPOLITICIAN), or - let's hope this doesn't happen - became infamous for something bad - then he might qualify under a different notability criteria. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 16:09, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It’s other players not even close to this level still in college with notability references from the same schools and sites . Just wondering where does this player differentiate from others Gameovername (talk) 17:25, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Like low-level professional players, elite college-level players' notability varies and is not a given. Each player has to be looked at individually under WP:Notability, WP:Notability (people), and any other relevant criteria. In general, players who received a lot of non-local, in-depth coverage that wasn't "in the sports section" and those who won major awards while in college, like the Heisman Trophy for college football in the United States, are much more likely to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements than someone who didn't. As a general rule if someone is past their college years and never "made it to the big leagues," they probably will not qualify under a sports-related notability criteria unless they "would have made it to the big leagues but for" some unusual circumstance. For example, an elite college athlete in his last year of eligibility who has "buzz" about being a first-round draft pick but who has a career-ending injury may already qualify for an article under WP:Notability or WP:Notability (people) due to in-depth/"significant" coverage from reliable sources that are not connected to the person (or to his school, or the NCAA, etc.). davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 19:46, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you are confident in your understanding of Wikipedia's notability criteria and its deletion policy, consider nominating some of these weakly-referenced articles for deletion. I would recommend starting slow, only doing one at a time, and learning from what others say in the deletion discussion. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 19:49, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Corey Allen Jr. (January 4)[edit]

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Davidwr was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Your efforts to improve Wikipedia, while not rewarded in this case, are appreciated. Please help improve existing basketball-related articles and create articles about NOTABLE topics related to the sport. You might consider joining WP:WikiProject Basketball if you have not done so already.

As a basketball player, Mr. Allen is not notable AT THIS TIME. Please do not bother updating this until or unless 1) it is obvious that this person meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines OR 2) it is obvious that he is expected to meet them very soon. In the second case, it will NOT be accepted until the person ACTUALLY meets them.

It is likely that this draft will be "soft-deleted" under the WP:G13 (stale drafts) rule in 6 months. IF and WHEN either condition 1 or condition 2 above is met, you may request that it be un-deleted at WP:Request for undeletion.

Your efforts to help Wikipedia are very much appreciated. Unfortunately, this person simply does not qualify for an article right now and there is no evidence that he is "on a clear path" to qualifying in the very near future. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 18:18, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
