Question from ShawnPatrickStarry (00:36, 10 April 2024)[edit]

How do I make a page on myself? --ShawnPatrickStarry (talk) 00:36, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ShawnPatrickStarry. It's not clear what you mean by make a page on myself. Do you mean make a Wikipedia article about yourself? Do you mean create an Wikipedia userpage about yourself? There are different policies and guidelines associated with each, so please take a look at the following general information pages. For information about how to create a Wikipedia article, please read Wikipedia:Autobiography, Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest, Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing and Wikipedia:The answer to life, the universe, and everything and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. For information about how to create a Wikipedia userpage, please read Wikipedia:User pages and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. If after looking at those pages you still have questions, feel free to ask them here, at Wikipedia:Help desk or Wikipedia:Teahouse. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:56, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A cup of tea for you![edit]

Thank you for answering my question with such detail! '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talk|contribs) 13:31, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An apple pie specifically cooked in the state of Michigan with a recently baked donut and an overpriced apple cider for you![edit]

Well, yeah I should scrap translating that. The only kind of translation that I did closer to Temporary Station is Decifit 83 Lines, which was sourced thanks to the editor who went and borrowed the book that was impossible for me as Tokyo was Hours away. Anyways, thanks for the long explanation! ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 05:57, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't necessarily trying to discourage you from translating that article; feel free to knock yourself out if you want to give a go. You should, however, keep in mind that WP:N (i.e. whether the subject is considered Wikipedia notable) is going to be the main thing that determines whether the article avoids deletion. It's perfectly acceptable to WP:TRANSLATE articles from other language Wikipedias into English, but those translated articles are going to be assessed in accordance with English Wikipedia policies and guidelines, not the policies and guidelines of the source Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:42, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well the reason I scrapped it is that it's not worth the hassle trying to dig for passing mentions on the internet. Books definitely will have a proper mention but I can't be bothered... ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 10:34, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
