League navboxes[edit]

Greetings! I saw you left a... sternly-worded comment on my talk page that I felt I wasn't given an opportunity to reply to, so I'm going to do so here. I think you misunderstood my meaning initally, and perhaps that's because I worded it very poorly. Apologies.

At the bottom of articles about venues, having a navbox for every tenant's league can easily defeat the navboxes' ease of use by making it a crowded mess. WP:NAVBOX mentions "Can become ugly or seem pointless, e.g. by unsightly coloring schemes, size, number of them on the same page, etc." as a disadvantage, and I wanted to help find solutions to that. I think venues are better listed in navboxes explicitly about venues, e.g. {{New York metro area sports venues}} rather than in league navboxes such as {{Premier Lacrosse League}}, which ideally should list articles explicitly about the league instead, e.g. teams, seasons, drafts, ect. This consequently presents an opportunity to reduce navbox overcrowding at the bottom of articles about venues by removing league navboxes that'd no longer have the article listed. I hope that clears up my viewpoint. — AFC Vixen 🦊 20:16, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Ugly," "pointless," and "unsightly" are opinionated adjectives, thereby violating WP:NPOV. Sadly, a great deal of policies and guidelines violate this core one. Tom Danson (talk) 20:32, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But you do recognise what my main point is, I hope? Lest we get distracted by finer contextual details like that. — AFC Vixen 🦊 20:35, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I do...but as I said, the reason I deleted that message is because part of it was calling out perceived hypocrisy for you not creating venue navboxes to restore the information you deleted; since then, I have decided that I will create these venue navboxes myself. Tom Danson (talk) 20:38, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Navboxes are for navigation, not information in itself ... that what articles are for. I'm not sure what you mean by "hypocrisy"; I said I wanted to remove venues from league navboxes because they're not in the scope of said navboxes and I did exactly that. Creating a whole new league navbox would be antithetical to my wish to reduce the number of navboxes, because there'd then be two league navboxes and the number of navboxes on a venue page wouldn't reduce and remain the same. — AFC Vixen 🦊 20:51, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article Delaware Stars has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:N: Little to no coverage of this facility in any sources. No other suitable article to merge into; USBL page does not provide details on individual teams

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
