Fridtjof Nansen ble invitert av republikkens president som ba ham om å reise rundt for å undersøke forholdene i landet slik at han kunne gi råd om utviklingsmulighetene. English: Metekhi, the old royal castle that has now been converted into a prison. One of the photos from the journey through Georgia between 3 July and 14 July 1925.
