Anandha Ragam (transl. A Blissful Tune) is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language family drama series starring Anusha Hegde and Alagappan.[1] It premiered on 29 August 2022 on Sun TV.[2] It is also available on the digital platform Sun NXT.[3][4]

Synopsis

The story involves Eshwari and Azhagu Sundaram. Unfortunate events force an ambitious Eshwari and a school dropout Azhagu Sundaram to tie the knot.

Casting

Kannada television actress Anusha Prathap was cast in the female lead role as Eshwari, making her debut in Tamil television dramas. Tamil actor Alagappan was selected to play the male lead of Azhagu Sundaram, making his debut in a male lead role.[5][6] In cameo roles, Tamil actor Ilavarasu[7] and Vinodhini Vaidyanathan were cast as Eshwari's parents.

Actress Reehana was cast as Saranya, who is Sampath's ex-lover and Shilpa's mother.[8] Indhu Chowdary was cast as Shilpa.[9]

Adaptations

Since February 2023, Anandha Ragam has been remade in other languages such as in Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali. It is broadcast on Sun TV Network's group of channels in the respective languages.

Reception

The series was described by the Times of India as "one of the most-watched daily soaps on Tamil television".[15] It had 560 episodes as of July 2024 and was said to be one of the top serials airing on Sun TV.[16]

Broadcast history

It began airing on Sun TV on 29 August 2022 from Monday to Saturday at 18:30 (IST), replacing Abhiyum Naanum. Starting on 13 May 2024, it shifted to the evening slot at 15:00 (IST).[17]
