Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan (transl. Hail the soldier, hail the farmer) is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language biographical drama film directed by Milan Ajmera. It is based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and is titled after his popular slogan of the same name.[1][2]
Synopsis
[edit]Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan beautifully narrates the inspiring journey of Lal Bahadur Shastri, highlighting his pivotal role in India's struggle for independence. The film opens with the fervent battles waged by two ideological factions—the Garam Dal and Naram Dal—against British colonial rule. Under Gandhi's leadership, the Naram Dal championed peaceful resistance, with Shastri emerging as a significant figure. Yet, the path to greatness was fraught with challenges, including a humble upbringing, the loss of his father, and the responsibility of caring for his mother, shaping his destiny.[3]
