Code names vs model names

[edit]

The S1000RR is the model name of BMW's litre-class sport bike. It happens to have a code name of K46. The fact that the code name was in use long before the model name is neither here nor there because this template uses the common name - the one that everyone knows i.e. S1000RR. --Biker Biker (talk) 22:09, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you really want to mention the K46 name, then list it is S1000RR (K46), but don't have two separate entries. The S1000RR is not marketed as a K-series bike, it is not marketed as a K46, you can't even find the name K46 on BMW"s websites or anywhere in the motorcycling press since the bike launch, where the S1000RR name was first used. Prior to launch the K46 name was used in the press and clearly it is used on technical documentation, and that can be (and should be) reflected in the bike's article, but this template uses bike's official model names i.e. the name they are marketed under (see WP:COMMONNAME) not their internal code names. --Biker Biker (talk) 07:33, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is questionable. Article is entitled without space and lede bolded part contains space between letter and number.

This template had had it with space between.
