Template talk:Formula Ford years

TfD[edit]

I'd like to nominate this template for discussion/deletion. Formula Ford as a series is 40+ years old and run in over 20 countries. If all of those series became listed in this template it would become larger than several of the component articles listed within. Also Formula Ford is one step above karting, its criteria for notability of invdividual seasons is argueable. A category should be sufficient for group ing Formula Ford. --Falcadore (talk) 23:49, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but only the series named in the table do have pages on Wikipedia, and I see no reason to list any other Formula Ford series in the table seeing as they don't link anywhere. I think Formula Ford does qualify for a template as it is quite a broad group of series and the template acts to pool all relevant pages together. A lot of Formula Ford seasons now have there own pages, especially from the Australian Formula Ford Championship, so it is useful to have the template to link them as well. In fairness, the template is only 4 lines deep and is unlikely to get any longer so it does not look out of place on any pages which it is on but helps to structure the whole Formula Ford area of motorsport. I can see no reasonable call for deletion. Officially Mr X (talk) 09:58, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not bothered about the templates, but I would like to suggest we don't go creating articles for individual Formula Ford seasons. Personally (I'm not sure about others) I feel we need some kind of basic notability guidelines (not rules though, because I hate those) at Wikipedia:WikiProject Motorsport, or at least we should not be afraid of nominating pages for deltion. I might raise that at the project talk page when I feel it is necessary. I can't find notability guidlines for sporting events, but maybe we just need some common sense. - mspete93 12:36, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think the major championships could have their own template. In Britain, United States, Australia & New Zealand its a legitimate motorsport pathway from Karts to wings & slicks cars.--Bjcook (talk) 06:35, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
