ABBA

[edit]

"Dum Dum Diddle" and "One Man, One Woman" were released as singles in some territories, as well as "Andante, Andante" and "The Piper". Unfortunately, I cannot provide "verifiable" sources on any of these. Also, due to these titles not having their own article page, I was unable to include them in the singles listing in Book:ABBA. Best, --Discographer (talk) 19:22, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • not having their own article page — actually, my goal is to collect enough verifiable information to create such pages. :-)
  • As for the sources: info on “Dum Dum Diddle” & “Andante, Andante”, cover of “Dum Dum Diddle / Tiger”, but no data for "One Man, One Woman". Are you speaking about these links, or maybe you happen to have found others? — Best regards, Qweedsa (talk) 12:36, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is correct. Some radio stations back in that era had a version of "One Man, One Woman" coinciding with the promo film (music video), though not as a promotional single. Best, --Discographer (talk) 19:18, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thank you. I'll try to scratch somewhere some more information. Best regards, Qweedsa (talk) 17:02, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dum Dum Diddle deletion

[edit]

I've declined the speedy request: not because the page shouldn't be moved to this title, but because the situation is confusing. Please post a request for help at WP:AN, where you can explain it better than you could with a speedy tag. I seriously doubt that any admin will object to moving the article once it's been more fully explained. Nyttend (talk) 13:26, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'll post the request right now. — Qweedsa (talk) 14:53, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your participation in our en.Wiki RfA system (on most orher Wikipedias, you would not be allwed to vote yet). You are very new here and not a native speaker of English so here is some essential reading to help you: Wikipedia:Advice for RfA voters and you may wish to consider if your question for the candidate is apropriate. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me on mt talk page. Happy editing! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:49, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Kudpung: Thanks for leaving me a message. I'd like to point out that I'm not that new to Wikipedia, being around here since 2008. As for the question, I clearly stated that this one is optional, yet I really am eager to learn the reason for the lack of cross-wiki activity by Jo-Jo, 'cause this is, IMHO, important for an admin (e.g., transwiki vandalism issues). To my knowledge, my question does not violate any rules of enwiki; however, should it do, feel free to remove it. As a sysop, you surely know some younger native speakers possess a poorer command of English than older non-native ones, so I'm not really sure why you're emphasizing that point. Qweedsa (talk) 13:14, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
HI, 240 edits makes one a raw beginner here, although I ignore that you may in fact have significant experience on the ru.Wiki but that does not count here - the rules are not the same. As you know, although I am perfectly trilingual English-French-German, my home Wiki is en.Wiki and specifically the UK chapter although I've been living in Thailand for nearly 20 years; I almost never post on other Wikis and I'm still smarting from an accusation on my own RfA that I don't edit the Thai language Wikipedia and that I don't edit articles about Thailand on he en.Wiki - on which in fact I used to be one of te most prolific content providers. . We have many highly competent German native speakers who have chosen en.Wiki for teir home, and some of them are admins. There is absolutely no requirement whatsoever for a multilingual editor to work cross-Wiki and to imply as such is,IMHO, not apropriate. As in your case, however, it is of course a bonus for any Wiki to have natives offering their expertise here on their country-specific articles, and anything else for that matter. MY ultimate concern is only keeping RfA as clean as possible and free of possible catalysts for drama so that futur potential candidates wll feel welcome there. I have been leading that campaig for many, many years. I hope this allexplains why I am very sensitive about what I see on RfA, and what I hear at coferences and meetups. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:22, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Kudpung: Thanks for the swift reply. I can assure you, once again, that no harassment, insult, or "catalyst for drama" was intended. All I did was to ask the question on the issue I deem important for an admin, that's it. You say to imply cross-wiki activity is not appropriate? Okay, I might be wrong in estimating the importance thereof, errare humanum est. You recall your own RfA, where you faced a blatant, I'd say ignorant, accusation, - I fully agree with you, sometimes dumb things happen.
However, Kudpung, this wasn't nice of you. Charging me with racism (?!) on a 3rd person's talk page, with the judgment being based solely on a RfA question, is really odd. With my ancestry, even more puzzling. I do know we all have different ways and levels of perceiving things, and, otherwise, I'd rather ignore that. But such a comment by a sysop was something embarrassing, something I did not expect. — Qweedsa (talk) 15:41, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've lived and worked in the USSR, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, France, India, Africa, and Thailand. As a professional linguist I tend to read too much between the lines. Perhaps I was wrong, no offence was meant, just a suppsition of possible fact, but on your own admission, you are not a native speaker and that's how it came across. Das gesagt, ich nehme oft kein Blatt vor dem Mund. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:59, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lomonosovsky Prospekt, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Avenue. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
