Hi Alifazal. How come you decided to ask that this article be deleted? It sounds interesting and useful. Can it not be kept, and improved later or, or something? Anyway, I fixed the link and changed the article title, and I think it should be kept. And thank you for creating it. Herostratus 18:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see, there is already another article about the snake. Well, good try anyway. Herostratus 19:12, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Herostratus! I rechecked the page and it seems you have redirected the page to the already existing page. My error was that i kept a fullstop at the end of the title. alifazal 17:52, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Sumbawanga Airport[edit]

Hi, I'm Binko71100. Alifazal, thanks for creating Sumbawanga Airport!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Good article, just a little short.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. —Preceding undated comment added 03:07, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kenya Airways[edit]

Hi. Why did you remove Precision Air as a subsidiary from the infobox? The percentage held by KQ decreased according to your recent edits, but the company is still a KQ subsidiary.--Jetstreamer Talk 17:42, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It is not a subsidiary. See this [[1]] "KQ said that it could not comment on the deal since Precision Air is an independent company despite its strategic stake in the listed Tanzanian carrier." It needs to be more than 50% to be a subsidiary. Ali Fazal (talk) 17:45, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're right.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:51, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Actually, Amina Mohamed was the Chairman/Chairperson of both the IOM and the WTO's General Council (Chair=Chairman=Chairperson; c.f. [2]). Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 14:49, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He there. Yes, I do not deny that. I have included those board positions in the infobox under the section "Positions". Thanks for improving this article's contents. Ali Fazal (talk) 14:55, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Her time as Chairperson with those orgs should probably be given their own office parameters since, aside from her time with UNEP as Deputy Executive Director, that is what she is mainly known for internationally. Middayexpress (talk) 15:40, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I understand these Board positions were not full time. Both the WTO and IOM were led by Directors General. Also, if you see her profile, she was the Permanent Representative of Kenya to th UN from 2000-2006; whilst at the same time she led these two international organisations. Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Cheers. Visual Editor[edit]

Hey Alifazal

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Layout of pages[edit]

I planned myself for some time now to remodel layout of lists of Tanzanian officeholders, but I didn't have enough time for that until today. I hope you like it. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 14:44, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for editing the list. However, I have the following observations:
  • the title of the article refers to Tanzania; and therefore including the President of United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar may not be essentially necessary.
  • the start and end term dates for President Nyerere ought to be one i.e. 1964 and 1985; and he didn't actually take office in 1977 as indicated by you as the year was between the two elections of 1975 and 1980
  • Repitition of the translated name of the part may as well be unnecessary and would recommend using its acronyms instead.

I thank you once again for updating the list. Ali Fazal (talk) 15:03, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as you may know, Tanzania was officially called the United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar between April and November 1964, after the unification with Zanzibar and before officially changing the name to Tanzania. Next, TANU ceased to exist and CCM was formed in 1977. I think we should include the precise date about when that happened. I'd also prefer to use the translated name of the party instead of just acronyms. Please, don't revert it again. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 15:16, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ruhila Adatia-Sood has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No notability before today. WP:ONEEVENT.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Ruhila Adatia-Sood for deletion[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Death and state funeral of Nelson Mandela. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Nelson Mandela#Death. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Nelson Mandela#Death – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 01:07, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hargeisa[edit]

Hi Alifazal. Outside of parts of the Somaliland region, the Hargeisa monument is controversial, as it portrays in heroic terms rebels and the Somali authorities as villains. It's therefore not a neutral image for the page. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 18:17, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Malawian Airlines[edit]

I wanted to let you know that I restored the destinations table to the format it had prior to your edits, as it was in one of the layouts that was approved by consensus. It took me some time to put the table in this new format, so please familiarise yourself with it. Needless to say, the table can be expanded, but sources should be provided for each new entry. Please also note the following:

  1. This edit removed a line that was in agreement with WP:ASOF
  2. this other one removed a valid reference from the lead; the full name of the carrier was stated nowhere else in the article
  3. this added unsourced content.

You may want to take a look at WP:BURDEN regarding the last two items last item. I've marked all the unsourced claims present in the article. Finally, you did not use an edit summary for each of your edits; please do so in the future. You may reply here, I'll be watching. Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:11, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Jetstreamer. I have added the reference. Request you to review this article: Jambojet. Ali Fazal (talk) 22:05, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a look at it ASAP.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:44, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding Jambojet, the content included in the ″History″ section should fit better in the ″Destinations″ one, IMHO. Furthermore, the table should be put in one of the formats I linked to above. I will not modify this article, though, I'll just do some archiving of references if you don't mind.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:06, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Newark By-election[edit]

I have reversed your edit to the Newark by-election, 2014 article because it is not standard practice to have any candidates or indeed photos in the infobox of an ongoing by-election article. There have been 17 By-elections for this Parliament and for every single one of them candidates were not added to the infobox until the results had been announced. I see no reason for this practice to change. Thank you for your edit, I am sure the photograph will come in useful once the by-by-election results are in. Thank you 75.34.100.93 for writing on my talkpage. I see that you have access to a wide range of IP addresses. Might I ask you to either confirm or deny that you are affiliated with User:AfricaTanz who was blocked indefinitely last year. If you are indeed the same person; it will be ironic given the fact that I was barred from that user's talkpage. The onus is on you to dispel my allegation by denying it. Refimprove and Swahili[edit]

Hi! I notified the IP editor that he needed to consult the guideline page. I hadn't seen your e-mail as I don't frequently check the account. It's better to contact me on my talk page.

In the meantime, do you do article requests in Swahili for aviation-related articles? Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 and Mohamed Amin (who died on ET961) do not yet have articles in Swahili.

Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 07:08, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I found Amin has a Swahili article now! But it could be expanded a bit... WhisperToMe (talk) 01:49, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Surely you are aware, WTM, that a project guideline cannot overrule a pillar policy of WP. 75.34.100.69 (talk) 07:46, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I work with airline destinations and the actual practice is to not add citations to every single destination which is why I decided things in the way I did. I will bring it up on the WikiProject discussion page but you can make it a Wikipedia:Requests for comment if you don't agree with what the project decides. WhisperToMe (talk) 08:10, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, you have it backwards. If the project wants an exception to the WP sourcing pillar, then it must ask the community for it. The project members cannot make that decision by themselves. Projects do not ever make policy. 75.34.100.69 (talk) 08:21, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you want you can go ahead and file a Wikipedia:Requests for comment on this issue. I can help you with it. You can also use Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy). WhisperToMe (talk) 08:53, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Zambian presidential election[edit]

Hi Ali. Where did you get the 90 days from? Looking at the constitution, article 104 states: "a presidential election shall be held within sixty days after the occurrence of the vacancy." Cheers, Number 57 13:01, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi #57. From this article. It states that the VP will act as President for a max. of 90 days. Ali Fazal (talk) 13:06, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, I found another version of the constitution on the Parliament website, which isn't the same as the other one - it seems the first version that pops up on a Google search is actually a proposed one. Cheers, Number 57 13:08, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AfricaTanz?[edit]

I saw your attempt to contact him at 72.177.27.15. I think he/she has moved on to IP address 75.44.28.168 for a while. His editing at Kilimanjaro is getting really under my skin, each time instantly and without explanation reverting my additions to a section I wrote years ago and then returning it over a dozen edits in a lesser fashion, with omissions and misinterpretations. I'll just stay away from it for a while. Afasmit (talk) 11:43, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Afasmit. Apologies for my delayed response. You may request the article be protected. FYI: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/AfricaTanz/Archive. I understand your predicament - it does get annoying. The user seems to have access to a plethora of IP ranges. Initiating discussions with "it" is futile - from my personal experience. Hi Alifazal[edit]

Hi Alifazal, I forgot to fix the color on the 2015 Nigerian general election when I made the changes. I will fix that back as soon as I undo the edits back to the colors blue and red. Hope you understand. Thanks Stanleytux (talk) 12:02, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Stanleytux:, please do note that the map uses the current colour ie PDP (green) and APC (red). I don't have a problem as long as it doesn't disrupt the Nigerian general election, 2015 article and cause confusion to the readers. Ali Fazal (talk) 12:10, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Alifazal, Maps are optional. Text already covers it all. Stanleytux (talk) 12:15, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Stanleytux: I disagree. It may be optional, but there is a provision for it to be used in the infobox and it has been used. It makes the article more descriptive. You do NOT have the right to remove it in order for you to use the colors of your choice. Ali Fazal (talk) 12:21, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nigerian election results by state[edit]

Alifazal,

Please don't delete this addition; it was obtained from INEC's twitter feed here: www.twitter.com/inecnigeria

Twitter is pretty much how many Nigerian institutions disseminate information to the public; the information is no less authoritative because it is not posted on a static page. Feel free to verify the results if you wish by visiting the feed.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
