Re: Reconnecting for AfroCreatives WikiProject page email[edit]

Regarding the email that you sent about the AfroCreatives WikiProject. What "automation" are you asking about? The Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide covers setting up a WikiProject. WikiProject AfroCine appears to be a related WikiProject. --Bamyers99 (talk) 16:53, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for the late reply @Bamyers99, and thank you for your reply.
  • We would like to have a cleanup list, like this one on WikiProject Film on English Wikipedia https://bambots.brucemyers.com/cwb/bycat/Film.html . However, we need ours to only highlight articles about African film and television that need cleanup.
  • We wish to have a list-building tool on the AfroCreatives WikiProject Film on English Wikipedia, like the one on our French Wikipedia WikiProject page (Under “À faire: Articles Problematiques”), segmented under various African country clapperboards.
  • We have this link here that pops up random African cinema stubs that need improvement. We would like to have its source category reflect all the 54 countries of Africa instead of just six that are currently showing. The current six seem to only show film stubs. We wish to show all relevant categories within African cinema.
While WikiProject AfroCine aims to have Wikipedians bridging the content and knowledge gap about Africa cinema on Wikipedia, the AfroCreatives Wikiproject is engaging the African creative ecosystem to not just learn how to contribute to Wikimedia projects, but also to contribute assets to Wikimedia. he the AfroCreatives Wikiproject has a broader scope than just African cinema, and will engage other creative sectors such as African fashion and African literature. We are of course also collaborating with local African Wikimedia communities interested in African cinema during our campaign. Ceslause (talk) 13:24, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Bamyers99. I hope you are good. Just checking to see if you have any updates, as we will be launching activities on the WikiProject page in February. Thank you Ceslause (talk) 15:02, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Cleanup list can only read one category to get the articles to process. Can't help with the random cinema stub. The clapperboards can be created by copying fr:Projet:AfroCréatifs/À faire and using {{Col-begin}}, {{Col-break}}, {{Col-end}} and {{Hidden}}. --Bamyers99 (talk) 00:34, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Bamyers99. I apologize for the long silence, I was pushing for the WikiProject film to gather all African film related categories under one space, and it's finally done. For the AfroCreatives WikiProject, kindly help us set up the Cleanup list to read the Cinema of Africa category. Thank you so much. Ceslause (talk) 19:15, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It has been added here. It is scanning about 1800 categories in Cinema of Africa. Directions for linking to it can be found here: User:CleanupWorklistBot#Linking to the lists. --Bamyers99 (talk) 13:01, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your requesting the undeletion of a portal[edit]

I saw your request at my talk page and I apologize for not replying more quickly. The answer isn't as simple as yes or no. Restoring the page you've requested would get you an "empty folder" so to speak. At your prompting, I looked at all the subpages of the portal, and only one of them has any substantive content. Is your project's goal to 1) gather any content created by the first portal, or 2) create a new subject-matter portal? The second project might be daunting. BusterD (talk) 17:30, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @BusterD for the reply. The goal is to gather any content created by the first portal so we can mirror the layout while creating similar contents under that segment. Ceslause (talk) 14:43, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
These ways the best way to set up a portal is quite different than before. The ideal way to is set it up to run automatically (via transclusion) so only rare edits to the portal itself need to be made. To my reading the portal was merely in early construction phases. The original creator User:Danidamiobi edited recently (Jan 5). Here's the outline: Draft:Portal:African_cinema/Sandbox. A portal may be the manifestation of an active wiki-project, but it's not something I'd wish on a solo editor. If I was a solo editor trying to proceed towards a portal, I'd need lists of articles. This is where a community may be helpful. I see a group perhaps with a similar focus on English Wikipedia: Wikipedia:WikiProject AfroCine. BusterD (talk) 16:42, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed the portal is automated. However, it was deleted after it stayed in the draft for too long, which deleted the contents it was automated to display. We're looking at launching the Wikipedia:WikiProject AfroCreatives and the portal in February 2024, but will be curating the contents henceforth using the set automated layout for the contributors to follow. This portal will be accessible to contributors interested in African Film and Television, including the AfroCine contributors. Ceslause (talk) 11:20, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
