A note
[edit]Hello. As you may have noticed, I have not been on Wikipedia for the last month or so. That was really a break to regain my sanity after much editing. I also had complex personal issues, regarding and not regarding wiki, and I read a few things that made me lose my faith in Wikipedia. Now I think that it is time for me to eschew my previous editing habits and just pop in here and there to improve the encyclopedia. Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 02:31, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Appaling conduct
[edit]Your conduct in the discussion about Kurt Weber has been appaling. You have repeatedly labelled multiple users including myself, and most notably, Majorly as trolls. You have frequently used insulting sarcasm and patronisation to get your point across. You have even attacked Majorly on his talk page. In general, you've been completely disruptive. Please refrain from such behaviour in future discussions, it's completely couter productive, and in already hot subjects such as this, downright immature. If you wish to continue your participation in the discussion, I suggest you do so in a calmer manner.--Serviam (talk) 16:01, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Calling someone a troll for trolling is not incivility, but merely stating the truth. I'm removing myself from that and related threads. If Majorly is wise he will do the same. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 17:20, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Calling someoen a troll regardless of their actions inflames the situation massivly. It's about as tactful as telling someone everyone else thinks they're weird. It's rude, and I thought nearly everyone was mature enough to know this. Evidently I was wrong.--Serviam (talk) 18:05, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- I called Kurt a troll, but the difference is, he is one. I'm not (or at least nowhere near as bad as him). Majorly talk 18:59, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Majorly, please be mature enough to disengage yourself from that discussion. The community was tired of my rants, and I am sure they are just as tired of yours. Erik Proxy-Connection: keep-alive

- Majorly and Erik, please both read Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#His talkpage and take note of TOAT's comment there. I would hate to see either of you blocked over this. DuncanHill (talk) 19:12, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- I've already withdrawn myself completely, I'm just waiting for Majorly to reciprocate. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 19:14, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think it would be wise indeed if you were to refrain from reference to Majorly – by word or deed, implicit or explicit – for the next little while. Let Majorly handle his own affairs; there's no need for you to comment on whether or not he's reciprocating your withdrawal. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 19:25, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- It's just annoying that Majorly gets a "Get out of Jail Free" card while Kurt is blocked for the same behavior. I think the discussion will be far saner and more productive without either of us badgering those who provide comments. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 15:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Basicly what the guy says is true, there were Jewish councils in the Polish ghettos that took orders from the Germnans. Read Judenrat by Isiah Trunk, it is an excellant historical account of Jewish collaboration during the war in Poland--Woogie10w (talk) 00:37, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Juden Rat does not mean Jewish rats, Rat in German means council, in German towns they have a Rathaus, the city hall--Woogie10w (talk) 00:40, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
It is a moot point now, my discussion entry deleted. Apparently this subject still remains historically obscure and something of a sore spot for many. 68.9.24.234 (talk) 12:09, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Odd signature breaking
[edit]It seems like your unrelated posts are added weird content into mine. Check it out. Here it is a second time. Not sure what to make of it. Are you using an external editor or something? It isn't a big deal, but I was almost 100% certain that you didn't know you were doing it. Protonk (talk) 22:26, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Weird. I definitely didn't realize I was doing it. I was just editing with Firefox; now I'm using Safari to see if the browser makes a difference. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 23:00, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it seems that it was the browser causing the problem. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 23:01, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I thought it was weird. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if firefox does that for me. Protonk (talk) 23:06, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Erik, not sure what caused it, but this diff [1] is very odd indeed. DuncanHill (talk) 01:56, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Removing reports from AIV
[edit][3] - Did you look at their contribs? They basically nominated every small Linux distro for speedy deletion. Not exactly vandalism, but certainly not constructive contributions. Mr.Z-man 22:54, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Not a blockable offense. They were not warned, as far as I can tell, and so were not doing anything in violation of warnings. Having a radical deletionist POV and exercising it (nominating the world for deletion) is not vandalism per se. Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 22:59, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- As I said, not exactly vandalism, but still inappropriate and disruptive, and requiring admin attention. In the future please limit things like this to a comment, and leave it to an admin to evaluate. Mr.Z-man 23:09, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, thanks for that :). I'm definetly going to take those pointers to heart, although i'm not currently looking for any kind of admin rights; my current tasks (and there's a long, long list of things to do) don't require them. It's still nice to get affirmation that i'm doing the right sort of thing, especially from someone who opposed my previous RfA (and kudos, btw, on your attitude to the whole userboxen thing; i note it's come come up one SoWhy's RfA now too). RE: Family tree of the Greek gods
[edit]Hi. This is somewhat ironic, but 83.226.64.212 (the IP who's edit you reverted back to mine, and left a comment with) is me. The family tree is still incomplete, I didn't have time to finish it. But tbh, it was just way too incomprehensible before. But the thing is, now that you've reverted it, it doesn't even include any of the Olympian gods, which is a bit silly. --Yenemus (talk) 09:40, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]This [4] which you corrected today, began as a bogus entry by the banned user User:Ron liebman which George saw fit to leave in place. Liebman is basically an idiot who keeps turning up now and then after having been banned over a year ago for continual disruption. He's a self-styled baseball trivia expert who is in fact a laughingstock at SABR, only he doesn't know that (unless he's reading this). He can't be fully stopped, because he does his "work" at the N.Y. Public Library system, and an IP block would end up blocking every library user. He's a pest who turns up every week or so, but that's about it. Thanks fer listenin'. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 22:32, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Napoleon
[edit]Erik, regarding your recent edit to the Napoleon article. I've been working hard on this article and improving the references in response to peer review. Your recent good faith revert reinserted an error into the archer reference and removed references I had spent time researching. - It was not a threat but merely a warning. You get blocked and come back and keep making the exact same kind of edits that got you blocked in the first place. You are inserting random, irrelevant trivia that only serves to disparage Obama onto his article, and are harassing me on my talk page. That deserves a warning. [edit]Hello. I noticed today that you were doing newpages patrolling but are not marking some of the pages you visit as patrolled. Though this is not mandatory in any way, and should not be done for all newpages, where appropriate it keeps your fellow patrollers from wasting time reviewing the same page multiple times. In any event, keep up the good work! Thanks. Waterden (talk) 15:59, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Why don't you ADD SOME CONTENT
[edit]I specifically said on that page, that I WAS GETTING STARTED. Sheesh, I know that it's a crude couple sentences. - I'm literally minutes from putting it in and I'm working on links, yada yada...and I said that I was getting started. Sheesh. I don't think those userboxes help. They drive deletionism. Will let you know how many CONTENT-ADDERS get "driven there", by the boxes. Instead I have a deletion notice sitting there like a turd.
- That was someone else who added the deletion tag. Please stop attacking me. Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 20:32, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Go add some content or send me some editors who want to do so. Your boxes (literally minutes after my posting and while I'm IN THE MIDDLE of writing the article) have a negative effect, not a positive one. If you want to "help", go advertise for me on some relevant category or project site, so I get some content-writers to help me.TCO (talk) 20:38, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

- Ok, well since your stated rationale is driving to drive editors to improve the article, why don't you make a post on the discussion page that encourages that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TCO (talk • contribs) 20:45, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Boyan Josic
[edit]Friendly question on Boyan Josic. You placed an A7 tag on the article, but I'm seeing weak claims of notability (CEO). Is there something going on here that I'm not seeing that would make speedy deletion the right course instead of prod/AfD? Thanks!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 20:53, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

- Please stop trolling, and try to sign your username. Not every fact that exists merits entry into Wikipedia; the Chicago Tribune publishes a lot of irrelevant material. POV push
[edit]I have a nasty message on my talk page starting as calling me 'pal'...
That doesn't sound like the Wiki five pillars to me...but is actually bullying and rather attempt at intimidation, rather than substantiation of claims of inaccuracy. Goes on to claim he has fellow 'pals who will back him up.' This sounds strangely like Brooklyn justice to me, collusive tyranny to be more precise, and not collaborative discourse of the nature I expect on Jimmy Wales' Wikipedia.
The poster who didn't sign goes on to refer to some of my material as Nonsense from a country he names in a denigrating manner.
The only substantive challenge to my post was saying it was 'without references'. But, I did include those references when I found them citing academic work that contributes to the understanding of the article, and the controversies surrounding the current POV expressed. My additions give the article a more neutral point of view than the none currently dominant in the article, and illuminates for the reader about the nature of controversy that extends into our current affairs.
Please advise what POV push means if that is a wikipedia term of art, and what I need to do to reinstate my additions to the article in a civilised and well adjudicated and public manner.

Én szeretném a Magyarországról szóló hiányos, vagy rossz adatokat javítani a wikipedián, de nem kapom meg a lehetőségét, hiába nevezek meg forrást, nem hajlandók elfogadni, hanem ahhoz a helytelen elképzeléshez ragaszkodnak, hogy Magyarország már 1526-tól osztrák örökös tartomány volt, pedig ez marhaság. regarding your views on me
[edit]okay so you've been monitoring me for a while now, i guess it could help because im still a rookie, but.
okay, you say that im a high profilic nationalist POV editor, right? well, you are wrong on saying im a high profilic editor, frw know me (not counting on whoever those was that spied on me) and also. MY POV is not biased, at least not yet from my edits, okay, so i created the one china template, but if that makes me an ultranationalist(which i presume is a bad thing judjing from what you say), does all those free tibet/taiwan/east turkestan templates remain okay? all those free tibet and whatever separtist leiency editors. why arnt they been banned then if opposing their views makes me elgible for a ban? wikipedia is neutral and so, why cant i have my views if thay are allowed to have theirs? just because these views clash? Btzkillerv (talk) 19:57, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- It is not an eye-for-an-eye system here. If you feel the editing or actions of others are biased, you should speak up and try to end that bias, rather than reciprocating with your own. Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 00:25, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- yeah yeah suuure. so, you mean that wikipedis is okay for free tibetan (or free whatever) separtists to roam this wiki and yet I CANT OPPOSE THAT IN MY VIEWS!? what do you think wikipedia is? icant change someone's mind just for the sake of it,and they are allowed to express their views, since when does it say i cant support the unity of the so-called opressed parts of china? EH? so, i'm a criminal JUST BECAUSE I DONT SHARE THEIR VIEWS AND INSTEAD OPPOSE IT!? and foryour infomation on wehrmachtvnn, i already changed the biased bits! and what eye-for-eye? when did you find me putting biased bits in articles!? apparantly all those free tibet/taiwan/east turkestan templates are okay because it obeys the wikipedia rules, so what rule did my template break!? Erik the Red 2, I would like to thank you for your participation in my recent Request for Adminship, which passed with 112 supports, 4 opposes and 5 neutrals. A special mention goes out to Stwalkerster and Pedro for nominating me, thanks a lot for having trust in me! In response to the neutrals, I will try to double check articles that have been tagged for speedy deletion before I CSD them and will start off slowly with the drama boards of ANI and AN to ensure that I get used to them. In response to the oppose !votes on my RfA, I will check that any images I use meet the non-free content criteria and will attempt to handle any disputes or queries as well as I can. If you need my help at all, feel free to simply ask at my talk page and I'll see if I can help.
