SP

Please have a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Manipuri. Due to their edits being stale, they were not taken any action. Pinging @RoySmith who's the last checkuser to leave a message in the investigation. Haoreima (talk) 11:06, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Haoreima: Looks like a WP:DUCK. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:08, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Haoreima: Have a look at this newbie. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:45, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As of now, this user seemed to be interested in different countries around the world. They did some editings of different states of India, but had not touched a single Manipur or Meitei related articles yet. Their editings on Nagaland article didn't seem to be ethnocentric as of now. It seems unlikely to be a sock, in case of suspicion related to the previously blocked user who was Naga ethnocentric & anti Meitei. Haoreima (talk) 19:32, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Haoreima: Yes, exactly, no DUCKY behaviour till now. I'm keeping a tab at 'em. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 20:06, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you take a look at this page I created
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AltruisticHomoSapien#c-GSS-20240426150200-Ankush_Khardori_moved_to_draftspace
I believe it meets Notability criteria.
What do you think? AltruisticHomoSapien (talk) 16:53, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@AltruisticHomoSapien: Skimming through, it seems majority of the sources aren't third-paty, I mean they are written by the subject himself. So ventures into WP:SPS territory. You need to replace them with third party sources first. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:10, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tyrannorevert

If it wasn't obvious, I reverted Lythronaxargestes by accident because I was too slow; I thought I was reverting the IP, but it had already been reverted. FunkMonk (talk) 17:14, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@FunkMonk: Fair enough. Regards - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:28, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your view?

Hello @Fylindfotberserk, what's your opinion on Talk:Maratha Empire#Requested move 17 April 2024? PadFoot2008 06:09, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@PadFoot2008: Well per Google Scholar, we have more hits for Maratha Empire as opposed to Maratha Confederacy. The former seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME. Have to discuss it thoroughly instead of merely voting on it if POV is a question and if not solely basing on the commonname policy. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:41, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Article titles are supposed to be neutral rather than just the most common name. Preferably, the most neutral sounding one of all the various common names. Both Maratha Confederacy and Maratha Empire have nearly equal number of uses in Google Books in recent decades it appears, with the latter being slightly more, but "Maratha Confederacy" is considerably more neutral, while Empire is considered an exaggeration. I am open to discussion. PadFoot2008 10:39, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to "mentioning caste in a biography of a living person"

I'm sorry but several notable person articles on Wikipedia have their castes mentioned as well, despite lack of self-identification, on account of existing third-party sources. I can keep bringing up examples. One example is Abhijit Banerjee, fellow Nobel Prize winner. He's never publicly stated he's a Brahmin, but there are numerous third party sources that attest to that claim. If mention of caste is justified in that article, for instance, it completely is, in the case of Amartya Sen as well. However, you may start a discussion on the talk page if you have a dispute vis a vis the same. Thanks. Dissoxciate (talk) 11:02, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dissoxciate: Abide by the policy, not whataboutism. You are free to remove caste from BLPs if those lack self-identification. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:08, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not whataboutism in the slightest. I'm stating a reason for my actions. A good chunk of living person articles on Wikipedia do not abide by the policy, hence the example. Dissoxciate (talk) 11:10, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissoxciate: Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Experienced users can't keep a tab on all the BLPs. As I said, you are free to remove caste from BLPs that lack self-identification. The policies are what we abide by, no exceptions. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:12, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Moving

Hi. Could you please move Ngareima back to Ngaleima (original title + common name)? It was moved by someone without discussion. Technically, it was "undiscussed move" as well. Besides, all the articles of the sister wikipedias of other languages use the common title. Haoreima (talk) 05:10, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BlackOrchidd

FYI, BlackOrchidd is topic banned from all IPA topics (re your comment on their talk page). --RegentsPark (comment) 13:03, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@RegentsPark: Oh.. OK. Thanks. Can you take care of that? That IP range has made a mess of that article. There is another article [1], where the IP is active. I've notified the page creator [2]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:18, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I took a look but this would be a content fix and I can't do that. RegentsPark (comment) 07:56, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive Italian IPs

Hey Fylindfotberserk, I know you've been active in fixing the disruption those Italian IPs (most notably the 93* IPs) caused in various Indian/Punjabi related articles-[3]. I just wanted to let you know they've now started to use various accounts like GuruRavidasPuttar, DeraBallanOfficial and now SantwinderSingh. Hopefully, we can get their disruption limited by being vigilant on the pages they often target. Thanks. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 11:22, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Southasianhistorian8: Thanks for the heads up. I'll watchlist and keep an eye over those. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:27, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
