Calton[edit]

I see you have come in contact with Wikipedia's favorite know-it-all. Next time Calton comes around, please just give him one sentence and leave it at that, cause no matter how hard you try, you will never get through to him no matter how right you are. You will just be wasting your breath with him, trust me, I have. If you ever need any help with anything, please drop me a note on my talk page and I will be glad to help you. Rock on...SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 09:49, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that's kinda the way it goes with him. No real edits, slams anyone making edits that he doesn't like, and berates them endlessly. If you do, though, ever need help with anything (no matter the subject) please let me know and I will be glad to help you out, if I can't, I will find someone who can. Take Care and Rock on...SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 20:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Calton has 10,678 mainspace, or "real" edits. For some history between these two, see Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Calton. The "outside views" provide interesting reading. --Tractorkingsfan 20:58, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's hard to tell. He looks like he's largely abandoned mainspace edits of late. And he's definitely abandoned WP:CIVIL, WP:AGF, and WP:DICK. Gateman1997 03:40, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I concede your point on that. --Tractorkingsfan 04:39, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Interstate 238[edit]

I 100% agree with you that it's not a parent of I-80. However, I don't think any of the five links are really helping your case that much. AA roads and the indigestion page do seem to explicitly state that it's not, but these are both roadgeek fan sites that aren't really reliable sources on the matter. The route log is just a list of routes in numerical order; it doesn't say anything about what's a parent of what. The FAQ-type page doesn't even mention I-238.

That being said, I think the burden of proof is really on the other guy. The article as it's currently written doesn't explicitly state that it isn't (or is) a child of I-80. If he proposes to include I-238 on {{3di 80}}, he's going to have to come up with some source proving his case. -- NORTH talk 09:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:VeteransAbove.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:VeteransAbove.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

So Weird and Cara DeLizia pages[edit]

Regarding your revert of the So Weird & So weird page switch: I can appreciate the potential problems in leaving the history behind - it wasn't my intention to create new problems with the move. However, the placement of the article under the decapitalized entry has been a long-standing error. How would you advise fixing this inaccuracy without moving the entry to the proper page?

Regarding your edit of the Cara DeLizia page: May I ask for what reason you removed the "no free image" graphic? You left no explanation when you made the edit.

Thank you for explaining - I was, in fact, completely oblivious to the presence of a "move" feature. Do you really believe the move would be considered controversial, though? I've never seen any reference to So Weird sans caps anywhere outside of Wikipedia (not in print, on official sites nor fan sites), and I did look for a while to make certain - otherwise I would've done this some time ago, when I first noticed. --Adam the Alien 04:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've sort of been following this today, so I thought I'd pop up here with a comment or two. I don't understand moves and redirects very well, but in principle I think the article title should be So Weird, because a) the capitalized version seems more common, and b) I've seen a few other titles go by in which the determination was that a lower case logo was merely a design issue, not the correct way to render the title itself. Perhaps we should bring it up on the article's Talk page and see whether there is much resistance to making the change. My experience with the article is that it's had the lower case spelling (inconsistently within the article itself, sometimes) since at least last July when I first looked at it. I'm not sure what the move in February 07 accomplished, but there used to be a note about a technical limitation preventing the article name and first two words from appearing as "so weird". Perhaps February was when that limitation went away? -- Karen | Talk | contribs 05:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! Related question, then....[edit]

If cut and paste is inappropriate, does that also go for spin-off articles, or is that another matter entirely? For example, about two months ago I broke out The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947 film) from the article about the short story, because the film material was overwhelming the rest of the article. I then added one of those "see also" templates (For the 1947 film, see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947 film).) to each article. Did I do anything wrong? -- Karen | Talk | contribs 05:29, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cisco Field Image[edit]

I have a higher resolution image that you could use to replace the current image for Cisco Field, if you would like. It is the exact same image, just a larger file. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sdkucera (talkcontribs) 21:05, 1 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Stoopid Monkey Logos[edit]

As you are probably aware, the Stoop!d Monkey page was the subject of an AfD and the result was, of course, "Keep". Currently, the logos are a point of contention with myself saying that they were part of the "Keep", while User:Calton saying they were to be dropped and the article was to remain.

I asked the admin who closed the AfD his opinion and he replied, "I just said the article was to be kept, I don't know about the logos". There wasn't a decision given on the logos and in the AfD only 3 users said the logos should go, only 1 said keep the article, lose the logos.

I am not sure how to handle this, but since the admin who closed the AfD made no decision and the AfD wasn't about the logos in the first place (and the majority said to keep the logos if you want to be picky about it, as far as I can tell).

This wasn't an issue from April 16th (immediately after the AfD) to May 3rd when User:Calton realized that I was blocked for 48hours (not related to this) and I couldn't revert his changes. User:Calton had no interest and made no changes on the page itself or the talk page during that time. So, to me, his initial revert on May 3rd was done because of my block.

I have asked two admins (in case one is offline) to revert his changes and put a block on the page until this can be worked out. I am also asking you, since you contributed to the AfD, what your opinion is on just the logos themselves. I appericate you input one way or the other. Thanks...SVRTVDude (VT)

Byington Vineyard[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Byington Vineyard, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. AgneCheese/Wine 07:00, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of 2008 Fortune Market 250[edit]

An editor has nominated 2008 Fortune Market 250, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2008 Fortune Market 250 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:59, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:CiscoField1.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:CiscoField1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 07:22, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Atlanticlogo08.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:36, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox logos[edit]

Whatever your reasons, please stop reverting, and take the issue to Template Talk:Infobox Stadium. I won't revert you again, but if you don't discuss it civilly, and continue to revert others, you risk getting blocked for violating WP:3RR. - BillCJ (talk) 06:13, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if this is the same issue, but nonetheless...
The fact of the matter is that the infobox is starting to look too awkward. In Rogers Centre, the image of the stadium is actually obscured. The differences in the proportions of different logos doesn't help either. Logos like PNC and Chase Field may loog fine, but tall logos like Nationals Park and Minute Maid Park can be more problematic. With the logo on the opposite side, the infobox looks much tighter. There's no issue with the change save for the occasional small opening paragraphs which cause the table of contents to be moved over, but no introduction (blanking on the correct Wikipedia terminology here) for these ballparks should be that small anyway. I'm planning on going in an straightening a few things up. I was just trying to get all the logos done before I went to bed so I wouldn't get some guy who saw some ballpark logos being different immediately reverting the different ones. Of course, I hadn't thought of football fields. Nonetheless (yes, I used that twice in one conversation), I think the change is a positive change for the aesthetics of the infobox. I wish I'd thought of it when I originally introduced the logos in the infoboxes, but I didn't. --The Silent Wind of Doom (talk) 11:34, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article Monster Park incomplete[edit]

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Monster Park to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 19:08, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Yardbarker[edit]

A tag has been placed on Yardbarker, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Themfromspace (talk) 00:33, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Testarossa Vineyards[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Testarossa Vineyards, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Merzbow (talk) 22:37, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have temporarily semi-protected the page at User:Gateman1997/Systemwars.com because it has devolved into a general attack page against members of that forum, which is against Wikipedia policies. I understand your attachment to it being your first article, but unfortunately its current form is not acceptable, even if it is in your user space. Either I can revert it for you (and probably semi-protecting it permanently would be a good idea unless you plan to watch list it) or delete it for you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:21, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re your messages: No problem. I semi-protected creation of the talk page, too. After I semi-protected the page, one of the new accounts shifted to the talk page. It is rather bizarre that it attracted vandalism. Perhaps it got mentioned on some forum and away they went. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:42, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Re your message: Are you sure you want to do that? Since it appears to be a single account currently doing the vandalism now, if he keeps it up, he's going to get his account blocked. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:54, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Re your message: Done. It's been create protected for awhile, too. If you need anything else related to this, feel free to drop me a note. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:02, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Ingamenow[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ingamenow requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

USL-1 stuff[edit]

Hey, how's it going? I noticed you have been making changes to the USL1 team list and some USL1 team pages following today's announcement that some of the TOA teams want to form a new league; I think we should wait until we have some more concrete information before we start making sweeping changes to the pages. TOA have only announced their intent to form a new league; it doesn't have a name yet, doesn't have approval from the USSF or the CSA to actually become a league, and nothing is finalised with regards to the league's detail, so we have no sources to confirm the changes. The fact that each TOA team page has a sourced paragraph outlining the 'intent to form a league' detail is enough.

Also, USL1 hasn't announced it's format for 2010 either, so we should wait until we can confirm which teams are in and out. Montreal might come back. Ottawa might not get their franchise. Tampa might jump to TOA. We have no sources to confirm what the 2010 USL1 teams will be, so I think we should wait until USL1 issues a formal press release. It'll only be a few weeks probably. --JonBroxton (talk) 20:46, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great job on the TOA/USL1 stuff following the announcement today. It's all coming together nicely. --JonBroxton (talk) 21:58, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say you can probably just overwrite the current redirect page at North American Soccer League. The hatnote at the top of the new NASL page will make sure there's no confusion. --JonBroxton (talk) 22:09, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There are around 2000 articles linking to North American Soccer League when they actually should link to the old article? This should be taken care of. --Papuass (talk) 11:36, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of auxiliary Interstate Highways. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of auxiliary Interstate Highways. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:18, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Image gallery[edit]

Please stop adding an image gallery to Carnival Elation. It is being removed per policy at WP:IG which states: "However, Wikipedia is not an image repository. The gallery tag is not a tool to shoehorn images into an article, and a gallery consisting of an indiscriminate collection of images of the article subject should generally either be improved in accordance with the above paragraph or moved to Wikimedia Commons. Links to the Commons categories can be added to the Wikipedia article using the {{Commons category}} template. One rule of thumb to consider: if, due to its content, a gallery would only lend itself to a title along the lines of "Gallery" or "Images of [insert article title]", as opposed to a more descriptive title, the gallery should either be revamped or moved to the Commons. -MBK004 07:32, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Tonight Show[edit]

It is against WP:CRYSTAL to include what is referred to as "future history" in articles. We cannot add a range of (2009–2010) if the host is still hosting as of the present. We must wait until January 22 or 23 to add that Conan is no longer hosting the show. As for Jay's second tenure of the show, we must, again per CRYSTAL, wait until March 1 to include his second tenure in any lists. — CIS (talk | stalk)

We can add this information to the article body, certainly, as we have done. But we cannot add date ranges for events that have not yet occurred. Read point #3, the "future history" section, at WP:CRYSTAL. — CIS (talk | stalk) 18:11, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Beginning January 22 we can add a date range of (2009–2010) for O'Brien's tenure. But we cannot add Leno as a successor host in any "lists" (i.e. Jay Leno (2010–present)) because this amounts to future history. Posting dates for future Boxing events et. al. is a totally different matter, because it isn't a date range suggesting that the "present" is in the "future". We do confirm that Leno is scheduled to take over the Tonight Show on March 1 in the article body, but this cannot be used in any date ranges until he actually begins his tenure, same as O'Brien for when he ends his. It makes no sense to say "Jay Leno (2010–present)" when he's not even hosting until March 1. — CIS (talk | stalk) 18:19, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FC in names[edit]

Hi. I'm not saying that we don't have FC in the team names - clearly we do. I'm saying we don't have it in the link piping. Like, we don't link to Manchester United FC, we pipe the link to Manchester United; we don't link to Chelsea FC, we pipe the link to Chelsea. It's always been standard practice. The only exception is on certain American teams where the FC part of the name is actually spoken, like Seattle Sounders FC, FC Dallas, and in the case of the NPSL, Tulsa FC and so on. --JonBroxton (talk) 17:56, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but that's my point. If you watch an MLS broadcast, Seattle Sounders FC is spoken as Seattle Sounders FC, so we pipe the link as Seattle Sounders FC. However, Chicago Fire S.C. (the formal name of the team) is spoken as Chicago Fire, so we pipe the link as Chicago Fire. We've always done it like this, so I don't understand why you're making an issue of it now. --JonBroxton (talk) 20:06, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
