Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! serioushat 11:56, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Most Terrifying Places in America has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable, no sources, original research, conflict of interest

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. serioushat 06:43, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses novel, unpublished syntheses of previously published material. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. When creating an article, you must be ready to cite reliable third-party sources to demonstrate the topic's notability. serioushat 06:48, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ghost Adventures episode summaries[edit]

What happened to the summaries on List of Ghost Adventures episodes? serioushat 13:15, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering that myself when I checked the page a few days ago. I don't know what happened, but I wasn't the one to delete the summaries! If you go to the history page, it looks like an unregistered user erased them, but now its fixed, thank you. ~~~~
For the Ghost Lab episode list, can you use less lines for the location cells? serioushat 20:37, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The episode list looks kinda ugly. Please do not overlink the locations. serioushat 23:01, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still getting used to the formats on Wikipedia, for I am still kind of new to this, however, I corrected the "overlinks" on Ghost Lab page. (Though I wouldn't have gone so far as to call it "kinda ugly", the overlinks were more of "unesscessary".)

Copyright violations on Restaurant: Impossible[edit]

Just a heads up: you did a great job starting the article on Restaurant: Impossible, but need to be careful of copyright violations. The summary of each episode was clearly taken from another source (I found them, word-for-word several places), and is considered both plagiarism and copyright violation. I've reworked the episode table to simplify it so it fits the space better, sourced it from Food Network and removed the plagiarized summaries. The episode list doesn't really demand a summary of each episode, since the show is so formula-driven. It might be nice to add the cuisine, but that's about it. Check out the tables on Kitchen Nightmares or Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, and you'll see they're the same.

Second heads up: we need to be prepared for folks who want to add the status of the restaurant (open v. closed) after broadcast. There was a long, long, LONG discussion on KN and RKN about this, and in the end, the problem of sourcing, notability and currency resulted in consensus that no updates should be added. I think we should be consistent with that here, for the same reasons. The show is about what Robert does, not about the restaurant months and months later. Ghost Hunters International[edit]

The flags to be displayed for GHI are the national flags. Wales, Scotland and England are all part of one nation, the United Kingdom. If you don't believe me, then look up their respective articles. Also Puerto Rico is a United States territory, therefore it gets the US Flag as it is not an independent nation. The hidden notes indicating this that you deleted without regard, were placed there for a reason. Using regional flags is incorrect. It is an "InterNATIONal" show "NATION" being the key-word here. Cyberia23 (talk) 11:34, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't realize it was your entry page and wanted it to be "national" flags. I did change all the UK flags because I thought it would be better to represent individual countries of the UK: England, Scotland, and Wales, which I know make up the United Kingdom, but I was trying to show each nations flags, that is all. I also changed the Anerican flag someone had next to Puerto Rico, which is not an American state, but their own country. I am still new to the "rules" of Wikipedia and will respect your wishes, even though I don't totally agree. Sue Kastle (talk) 15:46, 28 January 2011.
Whoa! Puerto Rico is an associated territory, but is not an American state, and it does not use the American flag. It has its own flag, which should be displayed. Check the article here in the Wikipedia. Drmargi (talk) 13:44, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I had nothing to do with this and agree the Puerto Rico is not an American state, that's why I put the Puerto Rican flag icon. However I believe it was changed by the creator of the page (Cyberia23), so you should direct all you "talk" conments to this user as he/she has done with me. Clearly this user does not want to use flags of the countries themselves and reverted all by England, Scotland, and Wales flags to United Kingdom flags, its Cyberia23's page so I cannot change them back. Next time, please check the user history on who edited the page. But I do agree at least PR should have its own flage represented! Sue Kastle (talk) 15:22, 28 January 2011.

Icon & the Black Roses[edit]

Hi Sue, That info was not added by myself, but by someone else later. The last time I edited that page, it was this version: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Rotring/Icon_%26_The_Black_Roses&oldid=82293077 but their MySpace http://www.myspace.com/iconblackroses has some info which corroborates the idea that they're back together and set to release a new album. Tell me if you would like me to collaborate with you in making the page worthy of not being speedy-deleted again (here is the conversation on that speedy-deletion: User_talk:Rotring#Icon_and_the_Black_Roses). Best, —Rotring (talk) 12:16, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sue, As far as I could tell, the problem was that, regardless of whether Icon & The Black Roses are notable enough for Wikipedia (which they do, the administrator didn't seem to question that), my article failed to assess that notability. We can work on the current status of what's on my user namespace (User:Rotring/Icon & The Black Roses and User:Rotring/Icon & The Black Roses (album)) and, when we find it suitable, start the proper pages. I'll try and collect the most links I can on the subject, their MySpace is already a good place to start (until the weekend, tops). —Rotring (talk) 17:13, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Dead Files[edit]

Hi Sue Kastle, I just wanted to let you know that I took a look at your recently created article The Dead Files-- There is a good number of citations and references. However, I noticed there are some holes that may need filling: the article does not contain in-line citations, and so doesn't follow Wikipedia style guidelines. And have a beautiful day! Cheers, Amy Z (talk) 19:17, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sue, the episode lineup for season two is incorrect. (See my note in the talk page please). Just trying to help and not very Wiki format wise. Magialuna (talk) 01:02, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Food Paradise, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Chinese, Greek and Neapolitan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:55, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's okay...I learn from my mistakes...I corrected every disambiguation you pointed out on Food Paradise with "Dab Solver". I guess I got carried away with adding links. Thanks for pointing them out. Sue Kastle (talk) 22:24, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages:

Food Paradise (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver)
added links pointing to Taffy, Gyro, East Los Angeles, Lasse and East Village

My Ghost Story[edit]

Hello, Sue Kastle! I'm glad there's another fan of the show who's ready to add the new episodes as soon as they come out - and you usually beat me to it! Some of the evidence they collect is truly bizarre, especially when it's one of those "snake" anomalies. Weird!

I've got to say I'm a little concerned that the summary sections are simply being cut-and-pasted from the Biography Channel's website. Per WP:COPYVIO, we are not allowed to cut-and-paste text from websites, and especially with no citation at all. Putting quotes around the text does not exclude copyvios. I'm fearing that many of these summaries are actually copyvios. I would appreciate a response at your earliest convenience. Cheers :> Doc talk 06:46, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I will clean it up. Since I created this article page, I've just put in my own summaries with some info that I searched for online. But lately I haven't found any summary info so I decided to look for info on the episodes from the Bio Channel website. Sue Kastle (talk) 17:43, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good! I expanded that section into a proper Production history section, just like in the Pawn Stars and American Restoration articles, incorporating that narration into it. I also added the opening narration to the Pawn Stars article, to make it consistent. Good call! Nightscream (talk) 22:25, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sherman House[edit]

Hi, I noticed your addition of two items to Sherman House disambiguation page. As you may or may not yet know, disambiguation pages are supposed to link only to topics covered by existing articles or to link to topics that are documented in another article. So another editor could have come by and deleted your additions, eventually. However I've now added links to your entries and put something in place at the link destinations. If you happen to know more, have sources, to add to those link destinations, it would be great if you could add more. Either way, thanks for your contributions, keep up the good work! --doncram 20:28, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Doncram, Thanks for adding an article page for Sherman House (Batesville, Indiana). I just learned about this Sherman House which was featured on My Ghost Story. And according to the show, and its owner is quite haunted. I'll try to add more information to the Sherman House page but I have to find some reliable sources.Sue Kastle (talk) 02:49, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FOOD Needs You![edit]

Hi there Sue Kastle! I've noticed you have yourself listed as a member of the Food and Drink Wikiproject. Unfortunately it looks like the project has been slowly sliding into inactivity except for a couple of people. That makes me a sad potato, and nobody likes a sad potato amirite?

If you'd like to turn my frown upside down, can you do two small things?

First off, go here and add {{Tick}} (checkY) next to your name if you're still part of the project.

Second, go to the project talkpage and participate in a discussion about how to make the project more active, and how to go about making articles in our area of interest a lot better.

You don't want to make me cry, do you? Potatoes have a lot of eyes you know. So come on, join in! :)

Note[edit]

Hi Sue, thanks for your help on The Musketeers. Just to note, a new paragraph can be made by having an empty line between: see this example

My username is Matty

This is another paragraph. As far as I know, <br> isn't used for paragraphs as it gives a slightly different result.

Thanks, Matty.007 10:38, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks Matty.007 for the information. Sometimes when I leave a space while editing some sections on article pages the space still dosn't show up so I've been inclined to leave a "<br/>" just to make sure. But I am still learning the ways of Wikipedia. :-) Sue Kastle (talk) 18:29, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sue, what do you mean about spaces? Where do you put them? Thanks, Matty.007 10:43, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Outlander[edit]

Hey, thanks for the contribution to Outlander (TV series). However, you should familiarize yourself with and WP:TVINTL, which specifically says not to just list every place that a show appears, and MOS:FLAG#Do_not_emphasize_nationality_without_good_reason, which opposes the use of flags for this purpose. Notable info should be written out in prose, without flags. Thanks! — TAnthonyTalk 20:13, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks User:TAnthony. I just read WP:TVINTL and will change my table to prose form. I didn't know Wikipedia was deleting all of the "International Broadcast" tables, especially since I still see tables on some television show's pages. Sue Kastle (talk) 20:25, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ha! That was fast! Yes the policy has been around awhile but there are still plenty of old tables left unnoticed. By the way I don't think the tumblr and blogspot references will hold up but I'll let someone else worry about that ;) — TAnthonyTalk 20:52, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's been awhile since I created or edited a broadcast section. I was looking up more information on Outlander and found all the broadcasts on OutlandishObservations.blogspot.com and wanted to add an "International Broadcasts" section. I try to do things correctly and according to guidelines on Wikipedia, so thanks again for keeping me up to date on guidelines. As for the references, thoses are the only ones I can find at the moment, but I'm sure someone will update or delete them in time. Sue Kastle (talk) 21:11, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gavin, thanks for contacting me, however, I don't think it's quite that simple. I reviewed your draft and it doesn't seem like your are allowed to start your own page. Wikipedia has many rules and guidelines pretaining to writing an article page and it looks like your submission lacks sources and references, so your info is verifiable. Plus I think in order to start an entire article page, you must be registered (create a login talk page like I have) and not under an unsigned name like you are. They're basically telling you it doesn't meet notability guideline or you series isn't notable, meaning your show isn't broadcasted nationwide and is on a local cable network.
If you want to know more, you should contact the editor/administrator who declined your request on your draft page. Goodluck! Sue Kastle (talk) 18:36, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
