Audiomachine (オーディオマシン) は、2005年にPaul DinletirとCarol Sovinskiによって設立されたアメリカ合衆国のカリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスに本拠地を構えるプロダクション・ミュージックレーベルである。
主にトレーラー・ミュージックをリリースしており、楽曲は数え切れないほどの予告編で日々使用されている。近年では広告やメディアでも広く使用されており、オリンピックやスポーツの世界大会などでも頻繁に使われている。商業用アルバムもリリースしており、一般での知名度も確立している。
概要
[編集]予告編という短い映像の中で映画本編並みの迫力をBGMで表現し視聴者に伝えるため大半の楽曲が1分〜3分程度の少し短いものとなっているが、楽曲の全てがクライマックス並みの濃さになっている。業界向けのBGMとして楽曲をリリースしているため、一般販売していないアルバム及び楽曲が多く存在している。また、楽曲の多くはオーケストラやシンセサイザーによって構成されているが、様々な映画に対応するために一般向けではない不協和音に近い楽曲も一部存在する。商業用アルバムの多くはビルボードのクラシックヒットチャートにランクインしている他、業界の間でもとても高い評価を得ており、スター・ウォーズシリーズやマーベルシリーズ、ディズニーなど著名な映画シリーズの予告編にて数多くの楽曲が使用されている。
経歴
[編集]- 2005年、Paul DinletirとCarol Sovinskiがライブラリー・ミュージックを専門でリリースするレーベルを作るためにAudiomachineを設立した[1]。主要メンバーはPaul DinletirとKevin Rixだが、Audiomachineはそういった楽曲を共同でリリースするために設立されており、かなり多くの作曲家がAudiomachine名義で楽曲をリリースしている[2]。
- Audiomachineは主にトレーラー・ミュージックを作曲しているが、近年ではスポーツメディアでも広く使用されており、2010年、2012年、及び2014年にはオリンピックにてEpic Musicというラベルの公式プログラムで取り上げられ楽曲が紹介されている[3][4]。
- 設立されてしばらくの間楽曲の一般販売は行われなかったが、2012年に初めてコンピレーション・アルバム『Chronicles』が商業用にリリースされたことによってそれ以降定期的に楽曲が一般販売されるようになった。商業用アルバムとして2016年まではコンピレーション・アルバムが頻繁にリリースされていたが、それ以降はオリジナル・アルバムのみが定期的にリリースされている[5]。また、業界向けのアルバムに関してはYouTube Musicに大半のアルバムがアップロードされている他、公式サイトで全てのアルバムを無料で試聴することが可能となっている[6][7]。
- 2014年にはPlayStation 4のゲーム、「Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare」のサウンドトラックをハリー・グレッグソン＝ウィリアムズと共同作曲しており、アルバム収録曲の内19曲がAudiomachineの作曲となっている[8]。また、2019年にリリースされたモバイルゲーム、「Call of Duty: Mobile」では毎シーズンのテーマ曲を手掛けている[9]。Call of DutyシリーズはFPSであり、そういったジャンルのゲームの中でもトップクラスの人気を誇っている[10]。
- Audiomachineは2017年に一度レコードレーベルのロゴを変更しており、それに伴って『Drumscores 2』以前のオリジナル・アルバム及び商業用のコンピレーション・アルバムのアートワークは新しく作り直されている (一部の販売サイトではアートワークが変更されていない事がある) 。しかし、シングル、EP及びプロモーション目的のコンピレーション・アルバムはデザインが旧バージョンのロゴのまま変更されていない。さらに、スタジオ・シリーズのアートワークのロゴは通常とは違う専用デザインになっている[11][12][13]。
- Audiomachineはリミックス・アルバムもリリースしており、2014年リリースの『Remixed』は今までにリリースされたAudiomachineの楽曲を別の作曲家がリミックスするという手法が取られた[14]。また、他のアーティストの楽曲のリアレンジも行っており、2018年にリリースされた『Trailerized: Covers and Originals』はジョン・レノンやビリー・ウィリアムズなど著名なアーティストの有名曲をリアレンジしたアルバムとなっており、4曲のオリジナルソングも収録されている[15]。2019年には、フランツ・シューベルトやヨハン・ゼバスティアン・バッハなどの著名なクラシック音楽家の楽曲のリアレンジによって構成されている『Reimagined』もリリースしている他、2021年にリリースされた『Twas the Night』には古典的なクリスマスソングのリアレンジが収録されている[16][17]。
- 2020年以降には定期的に通常のアルバムとはジャンルの違うスタジオ・シリーズがリリースされており、通常のアルバムはオーケストラや電子音楽などのジャンルによる壮大さを重視したインストゥルメンタルが中心なのに対し、スタジオ・シリーズは比較的落ち着いたテンポのインストゥルメンタルや歌のあるポップ・ミュージックに近いジャンルなどが中心となっている[18]。
- Audiomachineは楽曲以外にも効果音も制作しており、それらの多くはオリジナル・アルバムの『Tools of the Trade』というシリーズに大半が収録されている他[19]、『Atomic Music Station』や『Psychosis』などにも収録されている。内容としては、数秒程度の短い効果音から1分程度の環境音などになっている[20][21]。
