Reception

[edit]

At BrooklynVegan, Andrew Sacher included this among the notable releases of the week, calling stating that "it feels like a new beginning" stating that the band's sound has evolved with the ability to tour after the COVID-19 pandemic and continued that "it's tight, strong, and just whips by with the adrenaline rush of a great punk show" that he also compared to Mannequin Pussy's I Got Heaven.[3] At Distorted Sound, Ed Walton rated this album an 8 out of 10, calling it "a fun listen" and "a cohesive album" that is "over too soon and maybe could have benefitted from having two or three more songs".[1] Editors at Pitchfork Media scored this release 7.4 out of 10 and critic Nina Corcoran called it "a thrilling smash and grab, packed with catchy hooks, brat-punk impishness, and irresistible gang choruses" and prompted readers that this "dialed-up combo will get your blood pumping like you're present for the real thing".[2] Spectrum Culture's Bill Cooper said that, "despite some misses, [Burnout] remains an album with return value for punk anthems to blast loud and proud."[4]
