Prof. Dr Saško Kedev (Macedonian: Проф. Д-р Сашко Кедев), also Sashko Kedev (born 6 July 1962) is a Macedonian politician and doctor of medical sciences. He is a member of the political party VMRO-DPMNE.

Personal life[edit]

Born at Štip, Kedev graduated high school in his hometown. He is a physician specialist cardiologist. From 1991 to 1993 he was a specialist at a clinic in Bethesda, USA, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, European intervention certified cardiologist, certified intervention cardiologist in the U.S.[1] He was director of the clinic for cardiology from 1999 to 2003. He lives in Skopje.

Mountaneering[edit]

As a mountaineer he has climbed Mont Blanc (together with the alpinist Jovan Poposki - Jove and the alpinist Nadir Murseli), Matterhorn, Weisshorn e tc.

On 19 May 2009, Kedev climbed Mount Everest,[2] becoming the third Macedonian to scale the highest peak in the world.

In the Himalaya mountain range, Sashko Kedev has climbed the following 10 mountain summits higher than 8 000 meters:

- Mount Everest (8 848 m a.s.l.);

- K2 (8 611 m a.s.l.);

- Lhotse (8 516 m н.в.);

- Makalu (8 463 m н.в.);

- Cho Oyu (8 201 m н.в.);

- Dhaulagiri I ( 8 167 m н.в.);

- Manaslu (8 163m н.в.);

- Nanga Parbat (8 125 m н.в.);

- Annapurna I (8 091 m н.в.);

- Broad Peak (8 047 m н.в.);

Politics[edit]

From 2002 to 2006 he was a member of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. In April 2004 he was a presidential candidate but lost in the second round against socialist Branko Crvenkovski.
