Edit request for Manitoba parties
[edit]There have been some changes to Manitoba's parties compared to the current templates. The Manitoba First Party, which uses purple, (#5E419B ) was previously called the Manitoba Party, and is now defunct. The Manitoba Forward Party, which is represented with Forest Green (#22824F ) has changed its name to the Manitoba Party, and a new party has emerged called the Keystone Party, which also uses purple. The party colour template for "Manitoba Party" still uses the Manitoba First colour, and there isn't one for Keystone. We could use a second party colour under the name "Manitoba" using the Manitoba Forward colour, and a new one for the Keystone Party. Refer to List of political parties in Manitoba to see.

Description of suggested change: Allow disabling wikilink and just show the party name as plain text. {{2024 Canadian federal by-elections/Toronto—St. Paul's}} has 70 consecutive links all pointing to Independent_politician#Canada. Northern Moonlight 02:50, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Northern Moonlight Is there a reason something like
{{Canadian party colour|BC|NDP|row}}
couldn't be used in {{CANelec}} ? Sohom (talk) 14:19, 26 June 2024 (UTC)- Deactivating edit request pending a response to Sohom's comment. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:08, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Add Dominic Cardy's Party, Canadian Future Party. WanukeX (talk) 23:27, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- @WanukeX Can you prototype the changes in the sandbox and link to a diff of the changes? Sohom (talk) 03:53, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- I could make the changes myself, but I'm not sure where to edit:
- - To provide external links from the party name to the party page;
- - To provide the long and short forms of the party name;
- - To change the party colour (it's #FFD063) Evanleibovitch (talk) 23:02, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Done. -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:25, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm not seeing any change in the party's colour or link to the party page in the list of parties.
- Does that need to be changed elsewhere?
- COI: I am a member and unpaid volunteer for the party but am not staff or leadership. Evanleibovitch (talk) 13:56, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- It may take a little time for the template to update to all the articles. Bkissin (talk) 13:58, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks!
- However, The actual abbreviated name for the party is "Canadian Future", not "Future" as I have now seen it used. Evanleibovitch (talk) 14:51, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- I've changed it, but their logo makes their abbreviated name confusing as it just says "Canada" instead of Canadian.-- Earl Andrew - talk 14:57, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks!
- I have no control over the logo :-) but I confirmed that the official name registered with Elections Canada is "Canadian Future Party". Evanleibovitch (talk) 20:59, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Add BC Freedom Party with color code #0C0C0C as a new party was founded under the same name as the previous one. Philson (talk) 05:17, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. A reliable source is needed for the color choice of . We'd also likely want a unique name so that templates about past elections and the prior party don't get the new color. --Ahecht (TALK

- I believe you can edit Wikipedia:WikiProject Political parties and politicians in Canada/list of parties#New Brunswick parties yourself. ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 12:37, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think that does anything, but I went ahead and edited the template and it works now. -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:07, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
