Template talk:Major League Soccer referees

Notability

[edit]

Jkudlick (talk · contribs) said here that "per discussion at WT:NSPORT, WT:FOOTY, and WT:NFOOTY, referees must satisfy the general notability guideline as there is no inherent notability in their position." Generally speaking non-notable individuals do not belong in template lists which are intended as navigation aids, nor as replacements for categories or list articles. Although referees whose articles have been deleted at WP:Afd or by WP:Proposed deletion have been removed from this template, some editors have restored their entries. This does not aid navigation and is contrary to the guidelines. --Bejnar (talk) 06:55, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant ?

[edit]

Wikipedia:Template namespace#Guidelines states: "Templates should not be used to create lists of links to other articles when a category, list page, or "See also" section list can perform the same function." It appears that this template duplicates Category:Major League Soccer referees. As such it violates the guidelines, and would be an appropriate candidate for Wikipedia:Templates for discussion. --Bejnar (talk) 06:55, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
