No, "biannual" means twice per year. Look it up. "Biennial" means every two years. (I think some people do commonly use "biannual" to mean "biennial". I'm not sure if this usage is flat-out wrong or if it's an acceptable alternate usage.) Good Ol’factory (talk) 00:56, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore Temple Template[edit]

Hello. I wanted to stop by and thank you for updating the Singapore Temple with the correct exact location, and to let you know what happened there. I generally have been adding the templates for newly-announced temples as they are created, or have created them when they did not exist. Since such a template had not been created for the Singapore temple, I opted to get that template started. But in doing so, I wanted to make sure that the information I included was accurate. So I created the Singapore template by copying over the information from the Cape Town temple template and making the necessary adjustments to change over that information for the Singapore temple. That seemed to be the easiest method since the Cape Town temple was announced just seconds before the Singapore temple. But apparently, I didn't notice that I had left some of the copied information as it was rather than inserting the correct information about Singapore. So it was basically a matter of copying over the Cape Town template but forgetting to change some of that copied information to ensure it was accurate for the Singapore Temple. I apologize for any confusion this action on my part may have caused. Thanks for catching the error. Hope all is well with you. Keep up the great work. --Jgstokes (talk) 04:08, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Good Olfactory,

This empty category was tagged as part of a CFD discussion but when I went to the discussions, which you closed, it was not listed in the discussions. Can I remove the CFD tag and tag it as an empty category? Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:20, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think that would be fine. It was probably meant to be part of that nomination, but if it's empty, probably safe to delete it. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:24, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cat 1948 Palestinian exodus[edit]

Hi, I saw you put some items back into this cat. I am trying to empty it (I did two reverts and only then saw your close on the Nakba delete discussion) and then delete it (so I had to empty and delete the films first) because there is another cat History of the Palestine refugees which was/is being used for "refugee" (48 Exodus is refugee item as are the other exodus articles) items (so I put the films in there).

Idk how it came to be but the logical Palestine refugees cat is being used for biographies of Palestine refugees. What would be best is if there were a cat Bios of Palestinian refugees for those and then use Palestinian refugees for refugee related items.

Sorry if I am going about this wrong, I haven't really paid that much attention to cats in the past but seems that I should.Selfstudier (talk) 09:41, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I made a start (I think). I posted a nomination to rename Pal refugees cat to Bios of Pal refugees here. Selfstudier (talk) 17:44, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there was consensus to abandon this category in favour of Category:Nakba. See this discussion. I agree that perhaps the current set-up is not ideal, but that seems to be where we're at at the moment. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:03, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I get the idea of how to do it now, I will put it up officially, it's not that it is in "favor of Nakba" it's that if you have a cat for refugees in general and you have a cat for Nakba then you don't need this cat any more. By the look of it, this problem (and there seem to be some others) has arisen in the past due to some unclear category editing. Using the related nav boxes and lists you don't have this problem, they just need a better alignment. Thanks for help, sorry again if I messed things up.Selfstudier (talk) 12:24, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Book of Abraham[edit]

Hey there. I know you know my thoughts on using the word “Mormon” at all, but even ignoring that, I’m not sure changing “Latter-day Saint” to “Mormon” is the right choice in this case. This applies more particularly to the first instance, in which the term “Mormon” is unnecessarily broad: it’s talking about a specific event, i.e. when The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints received the papyri in 1966. The Church requested the opinion of certain, specific scholars, all of whom were members of that specific organization. Ergo, they actually were Latter-day Saints (not merely members of the Latter Day Saint movement). I think at the very least, this one should be “Latter-day Saints”.

The other two instances are a bit muddier. I can live with the term “Mormon”, since it is possible that there are relevant scholars in other Latter Day Saint groups who also believe the Book of Abraham to be scripture. I’m certainly not aware of any, but it is possible. But that being said, if we don’t know if they exist, is it really appropriate to consider them in an encyclopedic article?

Your thoughts are appreciated. TheOtter (talk) 13:28, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that it's useful to have different usages in the same article. The distinction is way too subtle for most people to notice, let alone care about. The word "Mormon" is far more recognizable than "Latter-day Saint". (We have an article on Mormons, but not one on Latter Day Saints.) "Non-Latter-day Saint" just isn't a very common word, but "non-Mormon" certainly is. I find the entire "Mormon" vs. "Latter-day Saint" debate to be quite unusual and arcane. May I ask a question about categories for discussion?[edit]

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about bundled nominations. I've made two bundled noms in the last two weeks, and two top level cats for April 21. The April 23 nomination Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_April_23#ACW_Confederate_units doesn't seem to gathered sufficient consensus, IMHO. Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_April_22#ACW_Union_units outcome is also unclear, though in both cases useful comments have been made. Suppose the closer concludes "rename". Do I re-format the nominated categories to match the latest (and best IMHO) version by Buckshot06? Does the bot do that? BusterD (talk) 04:03, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An admin will come along and close the discussions (eventually–at least in theory!), which will make clear what will happen. The admin could choose to go with Buckshot06's suggestion, in which case the admin will make sure that the bot makes the correct changes. If it's a "no consensus" close then nothing is changed by the admin. Good Ol’factory (talk) 04:09, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re: South Slavic surname categories[edit]

I'm not sure what you mean about parent categories. I went to have a look, but I was confused because I saw e.g. Category:Croatian origin, which isn't actually what we discussed :) can you fix them to say "surnames" instead of "origin", please? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 15:36, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Joy, sorry, that was a total brain-freeze on my part. I'm not sure why I put in "origin" instead of "surnames". I have put these in the work queue to correct this.
By parent categories, I mean the categories that the renamed categories are "in". For instance, if you go to Category:Bosnian surnames, it is in the parent category Category:Bosnian language and Category:Serbo-Croatian-language surnames. Is this still appropriate? Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:09, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes, that should still be reasonably fine. Worst case, it's not, but it's easily amended as it's in the page content, so it doesn't require touching all the category members. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 23:31, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eastern Catholic bishops by country[edit]

Tagging[edit]

An editor who is apparently unexperienced at CfD has nominated a whole tree without tagging every category page, in this discussion. I am not too sure if tagging is very important in this particular case, also because the creator of the categories is already involved in the discussion. But if you would insist in having all of them tagged then you'd better interfere. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:31, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Once I Was a Beehive[edit]

Do you have a source for your statement about the beehive name? I assumed it was just something created for the movie but your statement sounds like it would make sense.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:00, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You will have to indicate to me to what statement as I'm not sure I know what you are referring to. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:50, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm assuming this is the one. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:29, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

I'm sure you're well aware of the value of the work you do here, but I'm just dropping by to thank you anyway for all you do at CFD, including boring long follow-up jobs like this. – Fayenatic London 16:07, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you words, I appreciate it. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:54, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:DYK[edit]

Category:DYK had many incoming links because 1 template still had a link to it. I've updated the link and all those links are gone now. Gonnym (talk) 09:07, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Do you think we should keep a category redirect on Category:DYK? Good Ol’factory (talk) 00:26, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't. It's not really linked to by anything and I'm almost done with renaming the rest so no other category will start with "DYK" anyways. Gonnym (talk) 20:22, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I have deleted it. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:25, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
