Discussion

[edit]

Hi, you messaged me asking whether you could discuss certain things about Sylhet with me. I am not currently in Bangladesh at the moment so am unable to meet up with you. What kind of things did you want to ask me about? UserNumber (talk) 19:49, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Glad that you could make time for the chat. I have been reading into the Mughals and their subsequent conquests of Bengal including their wars with the Afghans and Baro-Bhuiyans. So I stumbled upon your contribution to the article of Khwaja Usman on Wikipedia. You have about 29 references in that page. I wanted to read some of the books in those references but I cannot seem to find them. So of them are actually very rare. Hence, I wanted to ask if you have those hard copies and if I could borrow them from you? Also, I wanted to know about the Mughal Faujdars who were stationed in Sylhet Division (Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, and Sunamganj) from 1612-1900 after the defeat of Khwaja Usman.Isolated Wanderer (talk) 20:26, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Unfortunately I don't have the full versions of most of these books. I have mostly been using previews on the Google Books website by typing keywords (for example: https://www.google.com/search?safe=strict&biw=1600&bih=757&tbm=bks&sxsrf=ACYBGNR3MR8AafVN59wJAlP4NlOmZkhOrg%3A1579037082734&ei=mjEeXsfELKqD8gKBwpH4AQ&q=%22khwaja+usman%22+bengal&oq=%22khwaja+usman%22+bengal&gs_l=psy-ab.3...7645.8818.0.9036.7.7.0.0.0.0.95.462.7.7.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.0.0....0.OYdxvD3ZG2c). However, you can access some of these books online such as "The Rise of Islam and the Bengal Frontier, 1204–1760" - one book which I have been reading fortunately. Here is the link for the Baharistan-i-Ghaibi which also mentions the Mughal opponents in Bengal: https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.84864
I have a list of all successive rulers of Sylhet on my sandbox. A lot of these have been transcribed from Bengali script so using both scripts for research may also help. There are numerous spellings of certain names as well such as for Khwaja Usman, Uthman, Osman, Othman etc. as well as in Bengali. I have an interest in the history of Sylhet as well as the erstwhile Baro-Bhuiyans across Bengal. You are indeed correct, these books are very rare and I would also love to have the full copies. They seem to be unavailable in major libraries in the United Kingdom. May I ask what books you have been reading relating to these fields? UserNumber (talk) 21:25, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to apologise to you for such delayed response. I am sorry. I have been very preoccupied at work. Well, I usually read articles from different pages in this field. But I started off with the Travels of Ibn Batuta which contained information about Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and his conquest of Sylhet. Hence I have been intrigued about the history of Sylhet largely. I have just started reading Ain I Akbari by Abul Fazal which is available online. I have also started looking for reliable sources to learn about Sylhet and Baro Bhuiyans. I have also checked your sandbox. I see you have mentioned Yusuf Khan (1707), Motiullah Khan (1707-1708), Rahmat Khan (1709), Kartalab Khan Bijapuri, and Yusuf Beg Khan (1712-13). But I see no references there. Could you guide me towards your references for these? Isolated Wanderer (talk) 17:18, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering what happened to you haha. I thought I put you off by saying that I mostly rely on samples. Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't tagged in your edit so I didn't get a notification but I returned to this page and I've seen that you have replied. I am starting to read a lot of Mughal works which are available online; currently reading Baharistan-i-Ghaibi and Tuzuk-i-Jahangiri, which contain a lot of information about Sylhet which I am adding along to Wikipedia. I have future plans on reading "The Rise of Islam and the Bengal Frontier, 1204-1760" by Eaton. However, as I have said, a lot of the work is heavily relied upon by samples from Google Books. The late faujdars of the 18th-19th century can be found in A chronology of Muslim faujdars of Sylhet (full version) and "Sylhet: History and Heritage". Bengali book samples have a lot of information: "Sileter Mati, Sileter Manush" by Fazlur Rahman and of course the books of Syed Murtaza Ali and Achyut Charan Chowdhury. Ways to improve Rick and Morty: Ever After

[edit]

Hello, Isolated Wanderer,

Thank you for creating Rick and Morty: Ever After.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hi, and thank you for creating this article. From the looks of it this is your 2nd new article, so welcome to Wikipedia. I tagged a few areas for improvement because this article just barely meets the guidelines for notability. Although there are 9 sources on the article, only 2 (CBR and Syfy Wire) satisfy all the elements of WP:GNG, or Wikipedia's rule of thumb for whether or topic is notable for an article. I would encourage you to read over these guidelines, but as always we are happy to help either on the article talk page, or over at the teahouse. If you plan to continue working on this article, you might find some inspiration from a similar article: Head-Space. Thanks again and Welcome!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Babegriev}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.
