Fyvush Finkel

Philip "Fyvush" Finkel (October 9, 1922 – August 14, 2016) was an American actor, singer and comedian. He is best known for his role as lawyer Douglas Wambaugh on the television series Picket Fences and as Harvey Lipschultz, a crotchety U.S. history teacher, on the television series Boston Public. He earned an Emmy Award for the first role in 1994.

Finkel was born in Brownsville, Brooklyn of New York City, New York. He was married to playwright Gertrude Lieberman from 1947 until her death in 2008. They had two sons together, Ian and Elliot.[1] Finkel died of a heart attack in Manhattan, New York on August 14, 2016, aged 93.[2]
