Charles Roger Hargreaves (9 May 1935 – 11 September 1988) was an English children’s author and illustrator. He is best known for creating The Mr. Men book series, which became very successful shortly after it’s release. The first book in the series, Mr. Tickle, was published in August 1971. Hargreaves would pass away on 11 September 1988 at the age of 53 following a stroke. Shortly after his death, his son, Adam, would continue writing and illustrating the books (while signing in his father’s signature).
