Just retuned from a safari trip to Ranthambhore National Park in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. Though the National Park is better known for its magnificent tigers, other interesting mammals and birds in the Park make every visit worth the efforts and time spent. Tigers, of course are the USP of this park which was one of the first sanctuaries selected for Project Tiger. During the first two safaris, we did not have any significant tiger sighting, except for a long distance view of the male tiger sleeping at Rajbagh Lake.
However, scenes like this one kept us enthralled! A Gray langur (Semnopithecus entellus) mother breastfeeding her baby doesn’t appear to mind our uninvited attentions. In fact, most mammals like Sambhar, Spotted deer or even the tiger does not appear to be overly mindful of human intrusions.
