Patty Fendick and Jill Hetherington were the defending champions, but Hetherington chose to compete at Nashville during the same week, losing in the quarterfinals. Fendick teamed up with Judith Wiesner and lost in the quarterfinals to Meredith McGrath and Anne Smith.
McGrath and Smith won the title by defeating Rosalyn Fairbank-Nideffer and Robin White 2–6, 6–0, 6–4 in the final.[1]

In the doubles final, the top seeded pair of Meredith McGrath and Anne Smith defeated Robyne White and Rosalyn Fairbank-Niedeffer 2-6, 6- 0, 6-4 and earned $21,000. White-Niedeffer took home $10,500 for second.
