Alix Ashley Earle (born December 16, 2000) is an American social media personality on the video-sharing platform TikTok. With over six million followers on social media, she has been called TikTok's "It girl" and "hot best friend" from the popularity of her "Get Ready With Me" confessional videos, in which she openly shares details of her personal life. Her ability to drive sales for the brands she promotes on her accounts has been dubbed the "Alix Earle effect".[2][3][4][5][6]

Early life and education[edit]

Earle was born December 16, 2000,[7] in Monmouth County, New Jersey, the oldest of five children, to Thomas "TJ" Earle, a construction magnate in Wall Township, New Jersey, and Alisa Maniaci, who is of Italian descent.[8][2][9] Her parents met each other at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.[10] Thomas holds a degree in business administration and Alisa holds a degree in marketing and is now a stay at home mom. She now works with different philanthropic and nonprofit organizations, such as C.H.A.S.E. for Life Foundation.[11] This organization focuses on educating the public on live-saving situations such as choking and drowning.[12] Thomas Earle's construction company makes an estimated revenue of $24.1 million annually.[13] He is mostly responsible for overseeing the executive management of the asphalt and aggregates, environmental, and trucking business units.[14]

In July 2008, the New York Post reported that Earle's father Thomas was having an affair with Ashley Alexandra Dupré, an escort best known for her involvement in a political sex scandal that resulted in the resignation of one of her clients, Elliot Spitzer, then governor of New York.[15] When paparazzi came to Earle's house, she was shuffled away by her mother to their cousins' house and kept in the dark about what was unfolding. She had no knowledge of the incident until she looked up her family in fourth grade. Earle's parents later divorced in 2013,[10] and in October of that year her father remarried, to Dupré.[8][2] Alix shares that while the affair was diffucult for her when she was younger, her family has since moved on and remained close.[16]

Alix is the oldest of five siblings in a blended family. She has one biological sister, Ashtin Earle. From her fathers second marriage, to Ashley Dupré, Alix has three half-siblings: Izabel, Penelope, and Thomas James Earle II.[17] Earle regularly shares content with her younger siblings, like get ready with me's, family dinners, and group vacations.[18]

In 2019, Earle graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, New Jersey.[19] In highschool, she worked at a boutique that she still shops at to this day. Working here is where she says that brought her interest of fashion today.[20]

She attended the University of Miami, where she graduated in May 2023[8] from the Miami Herbert Business School with a degree in marketing. In August 2023, Earle endowed the Alix Earle Scholarship for students at the business school.[21] The scholarship winners of 2023 were Elias and Leslie.[22]

Career[edit]

In February 2020 as a University of Miami freshman, Earle began posting on TikTok.[23] Her first video depicted her and her friends showing off their outfits, which were made of trash bags.[2]

In a 2023 interview on The Howard Stern Show, Earle stated that she initially attempted to fulfill an idealized, perfect persona. "When I started out, I had no idea. I was trying to be picture perfect. I thought that was the way to go."[24]: 1:00

Earle's growth on TikTok accelerated in the summer of 2022, when she was affected by acne stemming from an excessive facial cyst. Her manager informed her that she had to post a sponsored video on her TikTok. Due to her acne, she initially refused, but later decided that she could use her platform to help others struggling with the same issue. Earle later described the viewer response as positive and supportive.[24]

After her acne video, Earle began posting "Get Ready With Me" (GRWM) videos showcasing her makeup routine while discussing her daily life.[4] The move proved to be popular with viewers, and Earle accumulated two million new followers on TikTok by the end of 2022.[2] Alix now uses her platform to talk about the reality of skin insucurities and what her experience of Accutane was like and how it changed her life.[25]

In December 2022, she broke up with Tyler Wade, a professional baseball player with the Oakland Athletics she had been dating.[9] Earle's following on TikTok grew further, leading her to be called the app's "It Girl" by January 2023.[2] Earle talked about this relationship on a livestream, explaining he would lie to her on why he would never post her on any form of social media.[26] Several weeks after the breakup, her follower count had grown by more than two million.[2] By April 2023, Earle's follower count on TikTok exceeded 5.6 million,[27] which was a 1,000-percent increase over six months.[28] She receives between two million and thirty million views on average per post.[5]

In August 2023, Earle was announced as one of the first two content partners of Alexandra Cooper's The Unwell Network, a talent network.[29] The Unwell Network produces Earle's podcast, "Hot Mess with Alix Earle."[30] This podcast addresses contemporary topics that many people face today, such as anxiety, eating disorders and acne.[31] Information in this podcast is behind the scenes information that followers wouldn't know unless listening to the podcast.[32] "Hot Mess with Alix Earle” briefly unseated "The Joe Rogan Experience" from the top spot of Spotify's podcast charts, where it had sat uncontested for the previous two years.[33]

In 2023 Earle went on brand deals around the world. She traveled to Paris with Loreal. She also went to Dubai for Taste's famous influencer trip.[34]

Earle was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2023 and they said she is the #42 top creator in 2023.[35]

In June 2024, Earle appeared in the music video for the single "Girls" by Australian artist The Kid Laroi.[36] This music video focuses on a bunch of girls pouring drinks and dancing around in a mansion at a house party.[37]

Accutane Journey[edit]

Earle is on her second round of accutane and explains to her followers that her recent acne started to occur after stopping birth control last November and getting a breast augmentation in January, 2023. Earle speaks about the topic of acne and what she goes through commonly on her social media. Accutane effects everyone in different ways but the main side effects Alix saw in herself were dry lips, mood shifts, and bloody noses.[25][38]

Brand Deals[edit]

Earle has received numerous brand deals that she promotes on her social media, like TikTok and Instagram. Some of these brands, but not all, are as follows

There was a viral item at the beginning of 2024 called the "Alix Earle Light". This light was not actually created or sponsored by her but it did go famous. She explained to her fans how she connected a light to her phone to make her videos appear brighter and more visible. She said that she uses this light for nights out when the event she is at has dark lighting. Ever since she talked about this light that she uses, a bunch of different brands started to call it the Alix Earle Light.[40]

In the 2024 Coachella, Alix Earle was sponsored by Poppi. Poppi is a drink the has fruit juice, apple cider vinegar, and prebiotics in it. When Poppi released there new drink, the lemon-lime soda, they had Earle sponsor it by spoiling her during Coachella. Earle had to do a certain number of posts with having the drink in the background and in return, Poppi made Coachella an extra memorable experience. By providing artist passes, a private plane, and a private house for her and her friends.[41]

Fan Engagement[edit]

Earle does a lot of things to be able to relate to her fans. She posts everything for a reason and something she would post on Instagram, like a photo dump would not be posted on TikTok. Her get ready with me videos are what commonly go the most viral because of how completely honest she is with her life. She shares personal struggles and behind the scene insights on her life which is what keeps her followers engaged.[42]

Her fan engagement is another reason so many people look up to her. In public, she is always willing to take a picture with fans and have a little conversation with them.[43]

Personal life[edit]

Earle began dating San Diego Padres player Tyler Wade in December 2022, and ended the relationship three months later. Earle later announced in a TikTok that the relationship ended because Wade did not support her career.[44]

In November 2023, Earle confirmed her relationship with Braxton Berrios, a wide receiver with the Miami Dolphins.[45][46] Earle revealed during an episode of her "Hot Mess" podccast in December 2023 that she met Braxton Berrios at a Miami party in February 2023.[47] The confirmation came during a live recording of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast in Chicago.[48] In February 2024, Earle was invited to the 13th annual NFL Honors in Las Vegas to be Berrios's date.[47]

Recently Alix Earle and Braxton Berrios went on a European trip together. They went to several different weddings and Michael Rubin's white party. In the Hot Mess Podcast, on episode 41, Alix states “So I feel like all these spots we've been to, so we started in Cannes and then we went to Venice and then Capri and then Saint Tropez. And I've never been to any of these places before.”[49]

In October 2023, Alix spoke publicly about her struggles with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia during high school.[50]

"Alix Earle effect"[edit]

Earle's popularity and fan loyalty often causes the brands she promotes to sell out very fast, which has been dubbed the "Alix Earle effect".[2][3][4][5] According to Ubiquitous, a marketing company, one of Earle's videos can increase searches for a product by as much as 100% in one day. Earle earns as much as $40,000 to $70,000 for each sponsored video.[3]

The phrase "he/she is my Alix Earle" has also gained minor popularity on TikTok. The phrase implies that the subject of the comment has a similar influential effect on the commenter as Earle may have on others.[51]
