Dato' Bentara Luar Mosque (Malay: Masjid Dato' Bentara Luar) is a mosque located in the town of Batu Pahat, Batu Pahat District, Johor.[1]

The mosque, which was built in the 1930s, is located on Jalan Masjid, Batu Pahat, opposite the Batu Pahat Stadium. This mosque used to be the main district mosque before the construction of a new mosque, Sultan Ismail Mosque, although this mosque is still used until now.[2]

Architecture

[edit]

The design of this mosque mixes Mughal and English architectural styles, which is the result of the influence of the designs of buildings built at the same time. The effects of the original design of this mosque can still be seen to this day, especially the dome and minaret of the mosque. The windows and decorations are clearly of colonial design.[3]
