Kushtia (Bengali: কুষ্টিয়া) is a city in the Khulna Division of southwestern Bangladesh. Kushtia is the second largest municipality in Bangladesh and the eleventh largest city in the country. The second largest city in Khulna division, Kushtia is one of the commercial cities.[5] It serves as the headquarters of Kushtia Sadar Upazila and Kushtia District.[3]
Demographics
[edit]According to the 2022 Bangladesh census, Kushtia city had a population of 221,804.[7]: 388–394
According to the 2011 Bangladesh census, Kushtia city had 23,037 households and a population of 102,988. 15,788 (15.33%) were under 10 years of age. Kushtia had a literacy rate (age 7 and over) of 74.85%, compared to the national average of 51.8%, and a sex ratio of 947 females per 1000 males.[6]
Education
[edit]Bheramara Pilot High School (1918), Dinmani Secondary School (1930), Kushtia Zilla School (1960), Kumarkhali M N High School and Mohini Mohan High School (1944) are notable secondary schools.[3][8]
