Use this template for (arch)bishops as people, use Template:Dioceses in Germany for the corresponding territories. Articles which discuss both may include both. Rigadoun 18:34, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rigadoun, Most of the links are to the diocese articles, or redirects to the diocese articles. Those that link to the bishop are inconsistently articles about the bishop, or lists of bishops. It looks weird now that the wiki has developed a style for navboxes, and it's little used. All in all I think it's time to replace it's usage with Template:Dioceses in Germany. Your thoughts? Yes, obviously the style is old. It should match {{Catholic Bishops and Archbishops in Scotland}}, which contrasts with {{Catholic dioceses in Scotland}} in the same way. But only a few countries are set up that way. There doesn't seem to be a lot consistency in how this is done by country, which is unfortunate. I think there is an argument for combining the diocese and bishop templates, where each diocese is followed by the bishop article or list (like "Diocese of X (bishop) * Diocese of Y (list of bishops)," but only when they are not redirects), but that doesn't seem to be how most of these are designed; they instead have the current bishops linked (for example, see {{Catholic dioceses in France}}). But I don't know that there is any consensus here, though it would be nice to be more consistent (though it will take some work and might upset some people). If you're interested in doing so, I'd suggest asking at WP:CATHOLICISM. I'm certainly happy with anything that follows what that group have found to be consensus positions.
