which image is due?
[edit]If a song was released as a single multiple times, is there a consensus as to which should be the infobox image? If the original isn't available, are any of the subsequent covers acceptable/necessary/appropriate? — Fourthords | =Λ= | 21:54, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Description of suggested change: Please add |suite|suite to Template:Infobox song/color. There are about a dozen articles in Category:Music infoboxes with unknown value for type that have parameter |type= suite in their Infobox song. Thank you!

Singles chronology, incorrect year
[edit]This article: Promises (Def Leppard song) displays the year as "00000002" in the singles chronology section. I assume this is because the "released" field uses Template:ubl? Should that be removed and replaced with "br" tag instead? Mika1h (talk) 23:43, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Mika1h: No. See Template:Infobox song#released:
Enter the date using Start date. For example, use ...
and that note statesYYYY
if only year and month are known ... For multiple entries, see Notes[2] for details. For multiple entries, format the items as a normal bulleted list; don't use other list templates or <br/>.
So you should use:--Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:20, 29 May 2025 (UTC)| released = * May 1999 (US) * July 1999 (UK)
Where do you put "Mixed by" for a remix?
[edit]Duran Duran's The Reflex single is a "heavily remixed" version of the album track, but the important information about who did the legendary remix (Nile Rodgers and Jason Corsaro!) wasn't in its Infobox and there's no obvious way to add it. You can add version = remix
but where do you credit the creator(s) of the remix? I looked at a few famous remixes and they usually don't get their own infobox and/or are a subsection of the main article about the song or original single.
- If I add the remix crew with
version = remix by Nile Rodgers and Jason Corsaro
, that retitles the infobox "The Reflex" (remix by Nile Rodgers and Jason Corsaro) which seems too prominent. - Using the
misc
parameter puts the info after the previous - next singles chronology; besides, in this case the parameter is already in use - I wound up appending the same "remix by Nile Rodgers and Jason Corsaro" text to the
producer
parameter, but it feels wrong.
There must be other singles whose initial release was a significant remix by different people from the album original, but the closest I could find is the DNA remix of Tom's Diner; the single's label says "Remix and additional production by DNA for Raw Bass Productions", and its infobox appends them to producer
(as I did), although.
I think Infobox song should have an optional mixed-by
parameter, but perhaps only allow it if the infobox has version=remix
. Thanks for any suggestions! -- Skierpage (talk) 02:50, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- Another example is Missing (Everything but the Girl song), which describes the original single and the remix by Todd Terry, the latter credited as "Remix and additional production by Todd Terry" on the 12-inch single's label, in one infobox and again appends Todd Terry as a producer in that infobox. Maybe "The Reflex" is special in that the remix creators don't have a producer credit. Skierpage (talk) 08:19, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- Not every bit of information about a song needs to go in the infobox. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:32, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
