Your submission at Articles for creation: Benjamin Thomas Watt (October 4)
[edit]- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Benjamin Thomas Watt and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you need any assistance, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk or on the reviewer's talk page.
- You can also get Wikipedia's Live Help real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- What you need to understand is that sources which can carry a person's notability in and of themselves, and sources which are acceptable only for supplementary confirmation of facts after notability has already been built on the former class of sourcing, are two different things. Directories like boxingrec and social media sources like Twitter can be used sparingly as the latter type, if notability has already been covered off by adequate reliable source coverage in media — but they cannot be the foundation of an article's sourcing. Real media coverage has to carry the substance, and then you can use things like Boxingrec and Twitter as frills for a few extra stray facts that might not have made it into the media coverage — but Boxingrec and Twitter cannot, in and of themselves, make a person notable enough for inclusion here if they are the base of how the article is sourced. Referencing
[edit]Several good articles on New Zealand Boxers but could you please pay a bit of attention to your reference formatting. Article clean-up happens as a matter of course, often automatically, but these have to be done manually to get the bots to work. Cheers.Peter Rehse (talk) 09:12, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

The article Cairo George has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Cahk (talk) 01:29, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.Peter Rehse (talk) 17:34, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

Assistance if you want
[edit]Hi Bennyaha
I notice you are getting a rough run on the articles you have created because of the notability requirements. If you would like some assistance in determining if a propsoed article meets Wiki's criteria I would be happy to help. NealeFamily (talk) 03:48, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
- I would love help thanks Im thinking on creating an article on Bowyn Morgan who is a 4X NZ Amateur Champion, one time NZ Amateur Intermediate Champion, Awarded the Jameson belt in 2012 for most scientific boxer, Undefeated pro boxer W: 4 (2 KO) L:0 D: 0 NC: 1 --Bennyaha (talk) 00:31, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
- OK - the first thing you'll need to do is assess how he stacks up against the rules at WP:NBOX. If he doesn't meet that level then an alternative might be to take a top down approach - there is an article on Boxing, but none covering Boxing in New Zealand. What I would suggest then is a general article about NZ boxing covering its history through to the present including sub-section covering the different codes. From that you can link to an article about the code Morgan and the others fall under and deal with them as a group within the one article - ie a section about the code and then sections about each significant boxer in that code. Use your sandbox (clicking on this link will help create the sandbox) to create the article and I can take a look at it before it goes into the main wiki. Also I would cut and paste the articles being challenged into the sandbox so you don't lose your data. I hope this helps. NealeFamily (talk) 04:04, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
- The see also's, like those in Japanese occupation of Malaya are article links I am talking about. The provide an expansion in detail over the main article.NealeFamily (talk) 04:10, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

- Reference 5 needs to be stronger reliable source - check out WP:RS. Are there any publications with it in them - books, boxing magazines or the like? I don't claim to be a boxing fan and lack knowledge of its various leagues - WBF etc etc - can you point me to or outline for me how they all fit together - I am trying to get my head around the arguments as to why one qualifies as notable where another does not. NealeFamily (talk) 05:55, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
NealeFamily (talk) 05:55, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Ok for this explanation I am sticking to men boxing because women boxing requires a different explanation
There are 4 major sanctioning bodies: WBC, WBO, WBA (which has Super world titles and Regular World titles) and the IBF. In that order are ranked biggest to smallest in rankings to there size of the sanctioning body. All of there world titles are classed as World champions and all of there regional, international and World titles are what makes a boxer notable in WP:NBOX.
The are allot of Minor Sanctioning bodies as well which the most famous is the IBO which is almost a major sanctioning body but not quite. There have been allot of famous boxers that has held the IBO World title including Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Roy Jones Jr, Danny Green, Wladimir Klitschko (who still holds his title and defends it with this WBO, IBF and WBA Super title) and many more.
the next biggest Minor Sanctioning body is the WBU which has reinvented itself in Germany but there is no Wiki page on the new version.
The next biggest Minor sanctioning body is the World Boxing Federation which doesnt have a wiki either.
the rest of the sanctioning bodies are not worth much in mens boxing at least.
The sanctioning bodies dont do National titles they only do regional titles which is confusing with the WP:NBOX because they have part where they mention a Full national title which I thought that ment national titles give notability to boxers. That is why i made so many boxers Wikis because they won national titles.
In New Zealand we have two national titles which are created by the two commission bodies which are the NZPBA and the NZNBF. --Bennyaha (talk) 06:23, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your explanation. I shall have a think about the best approach. Also I have engaged with Charlie the Pig to proposed deletions into the sandbox as an interim measure so your work isn't lost while we work at sorting out the best way to retain the information.
Also please don't engage in personal attacks - even if provoked (yes you will get sainthood for doing so :)) Wiki rules are tight around that. NealeFamily (talk) 09:47, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- How are the NZPBA and the NZNBF linked to the sanctioning bodies? And, is it correct to say that the sanctioning bodies only cover international events, whereas the NZPBA and NZNBF cover internal NZ events. NealeFamily (talk) 10:33, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
I dont do personal attacks, I did see the attack on one of the pages, it wasnt me.
A sanctioning body is international recognize body that rank boxers and have world titles and regional titles and what not like the WBO etc etc. A Commissioning body are national bodies that make the boxing events legal (so they look after the paper work and work with governments and police and what not). Commissioning bodies also work with the Sanctioning bodies and generally each commissioning body has a representative from each Sanctioning body. Commissioning bodies generally have there own National title. Generally each country have one or two, unless you like America and Australia where they have one in each state. In NZ we have two, the NZNBF and the NZPBA and they do not work together at all.--122.61.148.207 (talk) 06:10, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks - now some homework for you - to prevent the loss of data from your earlier additions - can you copy the following articles into your sandpit. I had Charlie the Pig identify all those either currently or likely to be under threat - the rest are ok.
- James Langton - I think this is now gone
- Currently in AfD
- could end in AfD
- Charlie also commented that he thinks your workmanship is good and would like to encourage you to connect with the Boxing project even if you both got of on the wrong foot. NealeFamily (talk) 08:46, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. I am just a regular editor and nothing official like an administrator or Wikimedia contractor...I am an editor probably a lot like yourself. One important thing for me is to express thanks to other editors in a personal message to their talk page. This is not a template. I am just leaving this note for you to express my appreciation for your recent participation in voting for Arbatration Committee Members. Your vote is a great thing and with as many people participating as possible there is an excellent chance that we will have good representation on this committee. The Very Best of Regards,

Replaceable fair use File:David Letele Rugby.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:David Letele Rugby.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 15:06, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:ABA Stadium from the inside.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:ABA Stadium from the inside.jpg.

Nomination of Lisa Lewis (adult entertainer) for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Lisa Lewis (adult entertainer) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lisa Lewis (adult entertainer) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. ‑ Iridescent 08:57, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
- FYI, Newyorkbrad has closed the discussion and deleted the article. I made a post and so did Kurtis (here) and I wanted to draw them to your attention. I hope you carefully consider the action available following the threats to which you were subjected and hopefully report them to the WMF because they should know the details. Brad has had many years of experience in dealing with issues that involve off-wiki actions, he can no doubt give you good advice if you need it. I'm glad the article is gone as hopefully that reduces the threat to you, and I hope that you are coping with this difficult and frightening experience. EdChem (talk) 15:29, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia
[edit]Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Just curious on how you uploaded this file. I would love it to return and feature on the article about Joseph Parker but will need your assistance on re-uploading it. Thanks, Kidsoljah (talk) 00:47, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
Hello, Bennyaha. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Kali Reis vs. Maricela Cornejo, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Joseph Parker / infobox
[edit]Greetings. You've added zeroes to the fields in Parker's infobox where it says draws and no-contests, but these are redundant and not needed since his total amount of fights vs. wins vs. losses (0) is already there. Therefore, only if he gets a draw or NC in the future should a number be added. Please read the guidelines at MOS:BOXING/INFOBOX for more on this usage. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 02:26, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- You really should respond to this, as this is a content dispute. If not, I'll simply revert this edit and we can go the WP:DR route if need be. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 16:36, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
Sorry I am a very sick person (cancer) so it sometimes take me a couple of days to reply, As much as the guidelines say not to do it, the over all look of it doesnt always look right because when you see profile of a boxer you always have Win/Lose/Draw even if it is W: 22 L:0 D:0 either on announcing in the ring, on Boxrec, other website general profile and stuff like that.--Bennyaha (talk) 22:50, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- No worries and thanks for responding. Thing is, when announcing a boxer, they rarely state "no draws, no NCs". The only 0 that matters is their undefeated one; if they haven't had a draw or NC, it shouldn't need mentioning at all. The guidelines are in place across hundreds of articles, so why must Parker's be any different? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 15:15, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer advice
[edit]I was just browsing through requests for permissions and saw the discussion about whether or not to grant you New Page Reviewer. I'm not going to override the decision that Coffee, the admin who looked at your request, made, but you seem to be a good faith contributor. I hope you don't mind if I give you a couple of suggestions of things you can do to improve your chances of being accepted as a New Page Reviewer in the future:
- Clean up existing pages. Take a look at Cleanup Listings and pick a topic you are interested in (New Zealand or Rugby, for instance) and then go fix the problems listed therein. Especially focus on improving references, style and structure of pages.
- Participate in Articles for deletion discussions.
- Help out at Articles for creation. If you find an interesting or viable article in the AFC queue that needs help (and, trust me, it might feel like looking for a needle in a haystack), improve it and then leave a note on the talk page saying that you have done so. Dealing with AFC is sort of a mirror image to new page review.
Hope that helps. Yours, —Tom Morris (talk) 09:14, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:New Zealand Amateur National Boxing Medalist.pdf
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:New Zealand Amateur National Boxing Medalist.pdf. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 14:26, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

[edit] You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Wikipedia:Notability (sports). - Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

Celebritynetworth.com as a source
[edit]Hi Bennyaha. I noticed that you recently used celebritynetworth.com as a source for biographical information in Duco Events . Please note that the general consensus as expressed at WP:RSN is that celebritynetworth.com does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for the inclusion of personal information in such articles. If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks.--Ronz (talk) 23:24, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
