Question from Kathyegill (20:04, 19 June 2025)
[edit]FYI. I've been editing forever. But Wikipedia isn't sending me the code to access user:kegill so I created a new user account. Is there a way to link that user account to this one? TIA! --Kathyegill (talk) 20:04, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- KathyegillGood day! It looks like you've been editing English Wikipedia since 2004 under the username "kegill", with 400 edits in the main space as of today - see "Here - 1" .
- You can reset your password for the "kegill" account if you've previously added your email address in your preferences. To check, click the "human icon" in the top right corner, select "preferences", and look for "Email options." If an email address is listed, you can reset your password "Here- 2". Unfortunately, if you didn't provide an email address in your "preferences" for the "kegill" account, you won't be able to reset the password.
- What to do next:
- If you can reset your "kegill" password:
- You can continue editing under the "kegill" account. Please update your current user page (User:Kathyegi) to indicate that you are no longer editing under that name and add a link to your "User:kegill" page.
- If you cannot reset your "kegill" password:
- You'll need to continue using your current account (User:Kathyegi). Please update your User:Kathyegi page to include a link to your old "User:kegill" page and explain that you can no longer edit under that account due to a lost password.
- In either scenario, you can not link these two user pages into one, but remember you can only indicate you have another account in respective user page account. I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please let me know. Stay safe and all the best. Cassiopeia talk 01:00, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! Wikipedia wouldn’t send me the two-factor access code. I added the kegill link to this page. 50.47.23.83 (talk) 20:17, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

Draft:World Boxing Council Muaythai
[edit]Im trying to get my draft World Boxing Council Muaythai approved.
But i cant seem to get it approved. Its hard to find independent information on the subject but its a very big and important organization to kickboxing and muay thai.
The information in the history section is not independent should i delete that section.
And i have resorted to using the first title fight so i can add on some information im considering adding more notable title fights and storys about famous fighters to increase notability.
What would you suggest id do? Panini03 (talk) 09:16, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Panini03 Good day and thank you for the question. I have check your Draft:World Boxing Council Muaythai and none of the sources are considered independent, reliable. For a page to be meet the WP:GNG (GNG). The subject (World Boxing Council Muaythai) needs to have significant coverage from independent, reliable sources, such as from the major newspapers or bookds, where by the sources talk about the directly subject in length and in depth and not passing mentioned for verification. Sources from social media, blogs, organizations, educational institutions, foundations, private companies, and sites associated with the subjects are not independent or reliable and therefore do not contribute to the notability guidelines. Since the subject is an org/.council, we can NOT use sources that talk about fighters. (again note: sources talk about the directly subject in length and in depth and not passing mentioned for verification)
- I understand that the World Boxing Council Muaythai is a significant organization worldwide, but according to Wikipedia, the subject must meet the GNG guidelines to warrant an article on Wikipedia. Please note that sources can be in any languages as long as they are independent and reliable. Try to find sources in the Thai language. You can go to Thai Thai Wikipedia Teahouse and Thai Wikipedia Help desk to see if they can help. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 01:22, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for you answer and the information.
- the page International Boxing Federation Muaythai was able to get past this somehow then i guess?
- Muay Thai is is still a growing sport so its hard to find good credible sources about just the organization.
- There's plenty of reporting on title fights but only youtube videos that go a bit into dept about the organization and its history.
- The WBC is often used as a step up to Major organizations it plays a big role for fighters who will eventually compete at the highest stage like One Championship.
- I have tried finding Thai articles but havent found them yet.
- Thank you for the information i will try my best to try and find some more credible sources. Panini03 (talk) 07:54, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Panini03 International Boxing Federation Muaythai article does not meet the WP:GNG or WP:NCORP notability requirements and I can not find independent, reliable sources on the federation and I have nominated the article for deletion. If any we can find Thai sources for Muay Thai association/federation, then it would be difficult to find them in other languages as the home country of Muay Thai is from Thailand. Unfortunately, we can use social media (not reliable) , official website (not independent) , or fighters (not the about the council/foundation) sources for the federation or council to meet the Wikipedia notability requirements. I understand your disappointment. Having trained in Muay Thai myself during my time in Bangkok, I know firsthand how significant it is there and its immense contribution to producing world-class combat fighters. Stay safe. Question from Brettjhouston (19:32, 22 June 2025)
[edit]Hello, I did some edits yesterday and will do some more today. Enjoy the exchange of information. Why are some subjects locked and some require 10 (?) edits? Is that because these are subjects that are popular or is it because they have an admin that doesn’t want changes? Thanks in advance! --Brettjhouston (talk) 19:32, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) From my knowledge, the page is protected if it consist of persistent vandalism or persistent addition of unsourced content, or edit war, we have different type of Page Protection:
- Auto confirmed Protection (i.e 10 edits and 4 days)
- Extended Protection (500 edits and 30 days)
- Pending changes protected (A pending changes Reviewer or Admin will have to review the change before it's published)
- Administrator Protection
- For more Information see Wikipedia:Protection policy Destinyokhiria 💬 23:13, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
- Brettjhouston Good day! Thanks for your question regarding the page protection, and please see the message above from User:Destinyokhiria regarding the topic.
- As a new editor, it seems there are a few important guidelines that might not be familiar to you yet, which is completely understandable. I've noticed most of your recent edits have been reverted, so I wanted to share some key points:
- (1) What Wikipedia is (and isn't): We're building an encyclopedia, not a general platform for information exchange.
- (2) The importance of independent, reliable sources: For any information you add or change, it absolutely needs to be backed up by an independent, reliable source. Think major newspapers or published books. We can't use social media, personal websites, personal opinions/views, or most company/organization/government sites as sources (WP:V). It's always the editor's job to provide these sources (WP:BURDEN).
- (3) How to add citations: When you add a source, please use the "horizontal format" of Template:Cite web (for websites) and Template:Cite book (for books).
- (4) The lead section: The introduction (or lead section) should only contain the most important information that's also fully covered and sourced in the main part of the article. It's often best to hold off on editing this section until you're more experienced with Wikipedia's editing standards.
- (5) Recommendation: I highly recommend taking about 30 minutes to complete the WP:TWA program. It's a great way to get familiar with these core principles and will help you avoid issues that could, unfortunately, lead to a block if the same editing patterns continue.
- I'm here to assist you, so please feel free to ask any questions. Stay safe. Cassiopeia talk 23:43, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
NPP Mentorship
[edit]Hello! I noticed your offer on the WP:NPP page to mentor editors, and I'm very interested if that's still an option. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia but incredibly keen to contribute to the mission of democratizing knowledge. While most of my experience has been in removing vandalism, I also have familiarity with WP:AfD, WP:CSD, and article creation. You can check out my contributions to Southland Hospital, Surf To City, and 1893 Women's Suffrage Petition. Although I don't have a large number of mainspace edits, this is mainly because I tend to make larger, more comprehensive changes rather than frequent small ones. I completely understand if my current experience level doesn't quite fit the criteria or makes mentorship challenging. Please let me know if you need any more information from me. Nixleovel (talk) 05:18, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- Nixleovel Good day. Thank you for interested in NPPS program. NPPS covers topics such as sources, notability, SSN, article content, AfD, CSD, communication, article creation, verifiability, and many more subjects that will assist a patroller in reviewing new articles on Wikipedia. There are 10 assignments and one final exam in the NPPS program, and most participants take about three months to complete it. However, there is no time limit for completing the program, as each participant works at their own pace. Since NPPS is a comprehensive program, it will require a significant amount of your time to complete the assignments and read the guidelines. If you still wish to participate in the program after reading the information above then please let me know, and I will arrange it for you. Stay safe. Cassiopeia talk 03:32, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Cassiopeia, thank you for the information. I'm really excited to join the NPPS program and I'm looking forward to helping deal with the backlog. Nixleovel (talk) 04:25, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- NixleovelI have set up the NPPS program for you. Please read the section at the bottom of the assignment "communication section" before answering the questions. Kindly bookmark the program page for easy access. Once you have completed your assignment, please contact me for review. Welcome to NPPS, and stay safe. Cassiopeia talk 05:09, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Tech News: 2025-26
[edit]Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Weekly highlight
- This week, the Moderator Tools and Machine Learning teams will continue the rollout of a new filter to Recent Changes, releasing it to the third and last batch of Wikipedias. This filter utilizes the Revert Risk model, which was created by the Research team, to highlight edits that are likely to be reverted and help Recent Changes patrollers identify potentially problematic contributions. The feature will be rolled out to the following Wikipedias: Azerbaijani Wikipedia, Latin Wikipedia, Macedonian Wikipedia, Malayalam Wikipedia, Marathi Wikipedia, Norwegian Nynorsk Wikipedia, Punjabi Wikipedia, Swahili Wikipedia, Telugu Wikipedia, Tagalog Wikipedia. The rollout will continue in the coming weeks to include the rest of the Wikipedias in this project. [1]
Updates for editors
- Last week, temporary accounts were rolled out on Czech, Korean, and Turkish Wikipedias. This and next week, deployments on larger Wikipedias will follow. Share your thoughts about the project. [2]
- Later this week, the Editing team will release Multi Check to all Wikipedias (except English Wikipedia). This feature shows multiple Reference checks within the editing experience. This encourages users to add citations when they add multiple new paragraphs to a Wikipedia article. This feature was previously available as an A/B test. The test shows that users who are shown multiple checks are 1.3 times more likely to add a reference to their edit, and their edit is less likely to be reverted (-34.7%). [3]
- A few pages need to be renamed due to software updates and to match more recent Unicode standards. All of these changes are related to title-casing changes. Approximately 71 pages and 3 files will be renamed, across 15 wikis; the complete list is in the task. The developers will rename these pages next week, and they will fix redirects and embedded file links a few minutes later via a system settings update.
View all 24 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week. For example, a bug was fixed that had caused pages to scroll upwards when text near the top was selected. [4]
Updates for technical contributors
- Editors can now use Lua modules to filter and transform tabular data for use with Extension:Chart. This can be used for things like selecting a subset of rows or columns from the source data, converting between units, statistical processing, and many other useful transformations. Information on how to use transforms is available. [5]
- The
all_links
variable in AbuseFilter is now renamed tonew_links
for consistency with other variables. Old usages will still continue to work. [6] Detailed code updates later this week: MediaWiki
In depth
- The latest quarterly Growth newsletter is available. It includes: the recent updates for the "Add a Link" Task, two new Newcomer Engagement Features, and updates to Community Configuration.

- 203.129.28.131 Your IP address originates from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, while the "rent a girlfriend" IP address is located in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. If you are using an IP address that is shared with others, Wikipedia will attribute edits to the IP address rather than to an individual editor. Therefore, if you wish to avoid confusion with other editors sharing the same IP address, it is advisable to register for an account. Cassiopeia talk 04:02, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
