Hello! I just wanted to request that you archive your user talk page. While it may not be bothersome to you, many editors have slow connections, and having a very large talk page can hamper communication. If you need help, just check out the guide over at Help:Archiving a talk page. Thanks! Jay (talk) 09:12, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion of articles relating to the Sydney-Kormoran battle[edit]

As a major contributor to Battle between HMAS Sydney and German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran, HMAS Sydney (D48) (formerly "HMAS Sydney (1934)") and German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran, I am asking for your opinion on my expansion/improvement of these three articles. Before I start the climb towards a possible FA nomination, I was hoping you could have a look at the articles' current conditions and make a few observations (either here, on my talk page, or on the relevant article's talk page).

For transperancy, this expansion was prompted by a desire to get the articles looking solid before they appeared in "On This Day" (the entry for the battle was scrubbed a couple of days ago in favour of another WWII event). The article for Kormoran is not yet complete: content relating to the post-war searches and rediscovery needs to be expanded and cited, and will be updated in the next few days. -- saberwyn 01:58, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Association football consensus[edit]

A user User:timsdad is claiming the term football (soccer) has been changed to association football per consensus reached at the Wikiproject. I have heardx nothing of this and as far as I know, it's hasn't. He has already started renaming it to association football on the pages, Perth Oval, Westpac Stadium, Lang Park, Hindmarsh Stadium, Central Coast Stadium and Expansion of the A-League. He claims in some that once it is referred to what type of football it is, you can simply call it football later on. While I feel that is ok for soccer articles, the ones he edited in question also use the other football codes (rugby league, aussie rules, etc) and calling soccer, football is just confusing. What is your thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.3.243 (talk) 04:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Grant65! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 939 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

RAF squadrons[edit]

Indeed, yes!

I think - I'm not sure I ever got around to doing what I meant with that list - the idea was they should all at least have redirects from No. ### RAF, as well as being at the formal title of No. ### R(C/A/NZ)AF. I suppose I should get around to cleaning up the disambig pages and redirects and so on... Shimgray | talk | 14:13, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Swan River Colony[edit]

G'day mate,

Actually I think it probably had different meaning depending on context. Back "home", if you referred to the Swan River Colony, you meant Western Australia. But over here, "Swan River Colony" was a way of referring specifically to the colony on the Swan River, as opposed to the daughter colonies at King George Sound, on the Vasse, on the Blackwood, at Champion Bay, etc. Also, we need to bear in mind that the initial annexation was much less than the western third. I think the annexation wasn't expanded until control of King George Sound was transferred.

Romanization for words of English origin[edit]

On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).

Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.

One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.

What this invitation is:

  • You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.

What this invitation is not:

  • This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
  • This is not a vote on compromises either.

It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Luftstreitkräfte[edit]

I put an explanation for my changes on the discussion page for this one. My point was that word for word translations are not necessarily any more "accurate" than sensible ones that take cognisance of ordinary English word order. Turning the lead for this (very poor) article into a largely irrelevant quibble over English as opposed to German word order seems to be a great shame. (Repeating this on the discussion page if you want to answer it there - otherwise I will revert again after a day or two. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 03:08, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Western New Guinea Campaign 2[edit]

As the American campaign in Papua took place in the Netherlands New Guinea shouldn't the name be the Netherlands New Guinea Campaign?. BTW, I was not aware of Australia being a Belligerent in the campaign; as far as I knew Australia only dealt with the two territories it had administrated since WW-i, German colony of "New Guinea" and British colony of "Papua".Daeron (talk) 23:14, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Grantg65. While editing the Sex positions article, I noticed that you redirected Sexual penetration away from Sexual intercourse. I read your edit summary as to why, and saw your legal charge definition, but I point out that forced sexual penetration (rape) is still sexual intercourse. Rape is also addressed in the Sexual intercourse article. Therefore, it makes more sense to me that Sexual penetration redirect there (to that article). The article Operation Matterhorn (1963) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references found no published (gBook) support for this article. Fails WP:V and WP:N

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Premier League sponsors[edit]

I notice this edit has now been reverted by User:MickMacNee and I can't say I disagree with it. I think all of the alphabet soup that you used as justification do not back up your edit. I hardly think that simply listing the sponsors in an objective and neutral tone is what SOAP/ARTSPAM/RECENT had in mind, it is not an advertisement, puff piece or PR coup, it is a simple referenced list. I can't see the justification for it being "recentist": it listed in plain terms every sponsor in the Premier League's history. For me it is common sense to have them listed and not the other way around. If you still feel strongly about it then perhaps you could further explain your reasoning on the talkpage? File:Operationcartwheel.jpg needs authorship information.[edit]

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Operationcartwheel.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|Grant65}} will produce an appropriate expansion,

or the {{own}} template..

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:41, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
