Disambiguation pages[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if you are aware of the convention that when there is no primary topic, disambiguation pages go at the base name, instead of redirecting the base name to a page with "(disambiguation)" in the title. You should read MOS:DABPAGENAME for more information. Thanks, <<< SOME GADGET GEEK >>> (talk) 18:27, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Mohammed Matter: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. TJH2018 talk 01:31, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

18:41[edit]

Information icon Hello Nikolaiho. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3), or significance (CSD A7) moments after they are created, as you did at Suhas Girish. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. License tagging for File:Pie Crust Crab.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Pie Crust Crab.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. Do you want to know a secret?[edit]

Hi Nikolaiho. Do you want to know the secret why you get so frustrated here? The reason is simple to understand, Wikipedia was deliberately designed to make truth and facts fungible as part of a master agenda, so to speak, by its founder Jimmy Wales who makes his fortune (largely hidden of course) from Wikia Inc.[1] that is the home of Fandom and is the largest entertainment fan site in the world. So yes, Wikipedia is not about facts, it's about entertainment, and for a use so insidious to our culture you'd flee from here if you knew the whole truth. Now Wales hates using the term crowdsourcing[2] to describe Wikipedia, but that's exactly how this place operates. Nearly every administrator and editor here in this absolutely failed crowdsorucing project are zealots, partisans, and extremists from all parts of the spectrum who have created an environment where no fact is ever final, no page ever complete, and the data contained here forever mutable.[3] I would like to be able to tell you that this place will get better, but it never will, and you have to get used to that fact, and if you stray too far out of bounds towards real truth and facts (this scares them you know) you'll find yourself exiled. As I, and every professor in every university I've ever known, tell our students: Wikipedia is never to be relied upon for facts about anything period, which is why many of us educators work on the SEER project.[4] And finally, the billions of dollars poured into Wikipedia, Facebook, Reddit, and on, and on, by governments and intelligence services[5][6] is absolutly staggering, but is dwarfed by what the real agenda is. You need not reply to me, but the next time you need help with anything contact @Checkingfax:, he's one of the good guys. All the best. Picomtn (talk) 13:55, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted[edit]

Hi Nikolaiho. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 20:16, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting[edit]

RE: [40] You should be more careful of your use of the revert button. I completely agree with IP's removal of this material. Negative information about someone sourced to a non-reliable source (an anonymous user-generated review site). That's a BLP violation which should never have restored, let alone as a revert of vandalism. Meters (talk) 02:11, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Slow down, and don't use revert improperly. I notice other invalid reverts in your recent history. Revert is for clear cases of vandalism. This for example appears to be a good faith edit that you reverted. It wasn't sourced, but that does not make it vandalism. Meters (talk) 02:16, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Similarly this too was an inappropriate revert. It was reasonable for the OP to remove his unanswered question as the problem no longer existed. --David Biddulph (talk) 03:58, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Review my changes and you will clearly see the changes were correct. please kindly stop editing my page as you are tampering with my assessment. You may have experience in wiki editing but as I am not a wikiteen and would appreciate your feedback without removing valid and correct changes. No idea if this is how I contact you as I am new to this but you will note I intend to revert the changes again. If you have an issue please provide me with proof that my changes were invalid by providing research and references. Kind Regards

Hi Jkennedy90, sorry for inappropriately reverting your edit. I was probably rollbacking too fast and saw your edit as malicious. Thanks for telling me about it though. One advise is that you might want ot include an edit summary so people know what changes you made. Once again, sorry for the mistake. If you need anything, contact me here. Thanks. 10-19[edit]

Hello there. You recently reverted an edit regarding that it "did not appear constructive." (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:71.186.189.20&redirect=no) While to an untrained viewer of the program Around the Horn, it is a very important part of the lore of the program. The host himself has admitted to this, especially via his verified Twitter account and keeps track of his statistics, as it has been noted further below. There are actually outdated sections elsewhere in this page, but I cannot do it all on my own. I have been upkeeping the "active panelist statistics" monthly with assistance from listening to podcasts of the show (which get deleted from the website after 45 days) despite watching the show without having missed one in almost two years.

I do appreciate your concern for this page, however, given the show's history and the (ir)relevance of the change I made, as emphasized by the program's host. Than you for your time and consideration. 71.186.189.20 (talk) 07:06, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 71.186.189.20, I apologize for the revert. The reasons why I did it is because at first glance, it seems like vandalism due to the wording of it. I have undone the revert since. Next time, maybe you can add a edit summary so people know what your changes are. This article also seems to not have very good referencing so adding a reference to verify the text would be good. Also, you should get an account. If you need anything, you can ask me on this page. NikolaiHo☎️ 04:23, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this is Subhrajit. The edits that I have made on that article was not supporting any reference that time. Because I was failed to edit the reference page. And the grammatical mistakes that the article is showing may be because of the autocorrection on my mobile which is not supporting in the main page. And JAVA I have mentioned to give visitors an idea about the University Canteen. But still I will take care of that thing from now on. Thank you and please send me any further suggestions that I need to follow during my editing.

New Page Review needs your help[edit]

Hi Nikolaih,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

19:35:05, 15 November 2016 review of submission by Kabbalahhouse[edit]

Hi. I saw that you declined my article because you thought it was about another artist but actually, this article is not about Hugh Mundell. Hugh Mundell used the name Jah Levi on two of his albums (and the name "Blessed Youth" on others). This article is about a musician, producer and folk archivist named Jah Levi, who has held that name for a few decades. He is born in the same year as Hugh Mundell and is well-known in the reggae world, so that may have caused confusion, but he is not Hugh Mundell. This Jah Levi has released over 20 albums under the name Jah Levi and holds both the copyright and trademark to the name. This Jah Levi is a hero to many in the field of folk music and world music, as he has recorded many great artists for the first time, as his father (Kenneth Goldstein) did before him. Please review and reconsider in this light. Many thanks.

Kabbalahhouse, hi. The page Jah Levi has been created and deleted three times. Can you please show me some sources which show that Jah Levi is indeed not Hugh Mundell. I could not find any. I also must say that it is highly unlikely that two people, going under the same names, born on the same year, are both "reggae singers and songwriters"- which is who Hugh Mundell is. Are you sure that they are not indeed the same people? The thing is, even if he was a different person, he would not have the notability per WP:BIO or WP:MUSICBIO. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. --NikolaiHo☎️ 05:55, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Nikolaiho. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

00:29:07, 22 November 2016 review of submission by 161.77.202.67[edit]

Regarding the draft:jah levi: Confirmation that Jah Levi is not Hugh Mundell can be found by googling Jah Levi, where you will find that Hugh Mundell is a Jamaican born musician who died many years ago. He used the nickname "Jah Levi" on two of his albums. The Jah Levi for this draft was born in the same year (1962) in Philadelphia, and is a Caucasian American who is still alive and producing many albums.

They did have a lot of overlap in some regards, but most of the google results you will find are for the Jah Levi that this page is about, who has released many albums and recorded some of the top names in oldschool reggae and world music. He has been active in the reggae scene and in the folk/world scenes since the late 70's, early 80's, setting the stage for many of us who came after. He mainly works as a producer now, giving a chance for many previously-unknown artists to make a name, as his father, who was a leader in the production and preservation of folk music used to do.

I hope this is helpful in getting the page up!

When you google Jah Levi, the only reference that comes up in the first page of google results that not related to this Jah Levi is the wiki page for Hugh Mundell, which is one reason getting this page up is very important (to correct wikipedia's pointing all "Jah Levi" queries to Mundell).

I hope this is helpful in getting the page up!

Hi 161.77.202.67, in the case that Jah Levi is indeed a different person than Hugh Mundell, I would still have an issue with WP:ARTIST or see WP:BIO. If you can prove to me that he meets those standards of notability, then we can consider the article. The current referencing for the article also has great issues, most of the references are incorrectly completed or make no sense. I recommend reading WP:REF too. It is also worth noting that the article Jah Levi has been speedy deleted three times. If you make changes to the article and think that it is suitable, then you are welcome to resubmit it for evaluation but remember that there are reasons for why it has been declined previously. New Page Review - newsletter[edit]

Hello Nikolaih,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 803 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.
