Dhani (دھنّی; pronounced [təˈni])[1] is a dialect of the Punjabi language spoken in the southern parts of Rawalpindi Division of Pakistani Punjab. It is spoken throughout a widespread area, including Chakwal[2] and Jhelum Districts, as well as in neighbouring Attock District. Its name is derived from Dhan valley where its spoken.[citation needed] The closely related dialect Sohāī̃ is spoken in the Fateh Jang Tehsil of Attock District.[1]
It is closely related to Shahpuri and Jhangvi dialects. It, along with Shahpuri, Jhangvi, Pahari-Pothwari, and Thali, is intermediate between Majhi (Central Punjabi) and Lahnda (Western Punjabi).
